I've beaten it before, but nowadays I can't seem to get passed the third mission without deleting my character because something happens that I can't take, like getting a fatal wound or accidentally murdering my allies and taking a huge hit to my karma.
I'm way too OCD for this shit.

Here's what I've gathered from reading a bunch of steam discussion threads on the game's plotPlayer = Rimanah = Mentor
You (as in Rimanah, head of the Secreta) are condemned to an endless cycle of guilt/recurring death/dream for executing your wife (Circe, statues of her in HQ and stuff) and possibly attempting to perform necrocybermancy (hence waking up in a cave surrounded by dead allies)
To me, the true ending seems like it's Rimanah's mind telling him that there is no way to break the cycle even after becoming aware of it, as attempting to break the seal just sends you back to the cave.

it's funny that the only friendly conversation you have in the game is when you have some small talk with that jian at the beginning. No mention of any urgent situation or assassinating anyone just some casual talk with a guy you haven't seen in a while.
Nothing is clearly explained about the conflict but I guess they started as two rivaling schools of psykers trying to surpass each other until shit escalated.
I also find it very strange that if you go on an optional mission and use the clone technique you can see that you have a Jian armor. Maybe it's some ruse to worsen their reputation as you go on a rampage every time you step out the temple

The secratum took parts of the wolf+shinji and inject it into the soldiers to allow them to use psi. But your character is so wrapped up in psi that he has a Donnie darko situation where he can only continue his cycles, doing whatever he pleases until he realises he will have to kill himself in the end.
