But majoras mask has a more intense atmosphere and story and really struck a cord with my younger edgy self much more so then ocarina did so its the better game to me

Too linear. Not as in-depth in sidequests or story as OoT.
I admit, when I was 12 - 13, it was my favorite game ever too. But then I saw the truth in a vision where I was Link and meeting Princess Zelda, and then I bought Master Quest a year later on GCN at Hastings and realized it was my subconcious telling me OoT is the much better game.
MM is like dark chocolate cheesecake slice, to OoT's vanilla icecream cake with coconut sprinkles.

Zelda series has such awful tutorials.

Zelda shouldn't have tutorials at all. It was understandable in Ocarina of Time since it was the first 3D game and invented new mechanics for all of gaming. Every game after got worse with tutorials, despite the controls being standard.
