Yoshi's Story has flaws, but they need to bring back the forks in the road. Multiple paths like that in a 3d platformer was great for exploring, The amount of freedom you had in selecting levels was also way ahead of its time. Also the option to do all lucky fruit or melon runs of courses is a nice little side goal. Another thing that was really good about Yoshi's story was the in level warps which made backtracking for fruit you missed bearable. Lots of great ideas in the game.

Lots of people who played YS would collect every fruit they and end the level quickly rather than seeing the whole thing so they thought the game was much shorter on content then it actually was. Its a bit of a shame that the game never pushed the platforming difficulty a little bit more by adding special worlds or the like since the mechanics are all there to do it like grappling onto those ! circles with the tongue. Its honestly a game I'd love to see rom hacks for.

I used to be like the likes of you. I used to hide my feelings with a "haha", acting as if it was but a joke, but the truth is that it was never a joke. It was an addiction.
To this day, I am a slave for Yoshi's smelly eggs and stinky feet. I find it increasingly difficult to think thoughts that don't revolve around them. I have lost connection with my friends and family. It's probably for the better. I would hate for them to see me like this. My nest is filthy. The walls are caked with footprints and rotten yolk. The floors are hidden under layers of broken egg shells. It has been weeks since I have taken off my boots which contain the most fowl extremities that I refuse to clean with none other than my own tongue. My back itches underneath His saddle that shall never be removed from my flesh. Much like my Reptilian God, those are the only articles I let myself wear, besides the eggshells I replace each morning. I have become noseblind to my nest over the years, but I imagine it must be unbearable to most humans. The insects I nourish myself with at least seem to like it. They are the only food, Yoshi gives me. I musn't consume the egg-laying fowl I keep nor their eggs. Yoshi would not like that. I am happy with what I have as long as Yoshi is happy with me.
Do not feel bad for me. I am close to Yoshi.
