I actually hadfunplaying the game. The fanbase is fucking horrible though, e.g. I'd never tell someone I know in real life that I liked the game because I would not want to be associated with the fanbase.
It was an alright game with some memorable moments and a pretty decent soundtrack.
What I dislike is the fanbase. The fans are fucking insufferable to the point they drag the game down by association.

It was fun, kinda quirky. The humor was too twittery for me, but it was a decent Earthbound ripoff with really incredible music.
Like other people have said though, that twittery brand of humor has attracted an extremely obnoxious fanbase. Makes discussing the game pretty hard.

I don't dislike the game, the game was perfectly fine. But the fandom behind it is mlp 2.0 which in some ways is just pokemon 3.0 (except pokemon achieved normalcy in society and is basically the equivalent of legos or disney shit).

its honestly among my favorite games now. aside from the first diablo its the only other western made rpg i've beaten. although thats mostly because the scrolls and fallout games bored me to tears and i haven't tried anything else like planescape or baulders gate.
its transition from a light hearted tone to allusions of self harm and suicide was organic and effortless. UT says more about depression and isolation than any of the actual tumblr-tier shit like depression quest ever could. its way-too apparent that toby has considered suicide in a very real way.
also also, the genocide route is one of my favorite things in vidya today. "but nobody came" is easily my favorite vidya related quotes now, and the first time i hit the kill limit in an area was so jarring that i have to give the game credit for that alone.

I was kinda let down with the full game, the demo really had something going for it.
The atmosphere was isolating, but in a good adventurous way, the music to the ruins fitted perfectly.
The cast in the demo was interesting too, you've got the self insert main character, a cruel nihilistic creature that wants to kill you, and a caring mother figure that wants to protect you, I feel like they really had something there with just those 3 characters, but then they added sans... then papyrus... and more and more characters, I don't dislike them, but I really would have liked the whole game being like the demo.
I played Ib prior to playing Undertale and it was one of the most special experiences I had with a video game and after seeing some promotion art for Undertale I thought "Oh yeah, this is my type of game.", shame the full game didn't turn out the way I expected but hey, at least the Omega Flowey boss fight was really memorable, that's one of the things Undertale did really well, it left a good lasting impression with it's final bosses and endings.
I feel like as soon as the game started getting good again (Mettaton boss fight and onward) it just ends.
I'm happy for this game's success but I just can't help but feel a little let down, and these type of games are better anyway when they stay niche and under the radar because that makes them more special to you.
