Yeah, I'd say so. The sub stories and what not are great too. Just keep in mind that the western version of Yakuza 3 cut host clubs and Mahjong. They're in Yakuza 4 though.

Finished Yakuza 3 couple of days ago and I went it expecting it not to be as good as Yakuza 1 or 2 but I was surprised that it turned out pretty fucking good and as usual the game gave me feels like the last 2. It's worth playing through.
Also nothing is as satisfying as hitting people with the Komaki Tiger Drop.

He liked the fact that you could use almost everything in the environment to beat someone down (as that's would be the typical stuff you do in a brawl), but note that they definitely wouldn't have survived many of the hits.

I'd say it's due to most QTEs in Yakuza being short and sweet, plus there's few moments where your QTE fest will insta-kill the boss.
In god of war and Shadow of Mordor, you're QTE fest is just pressing a button and watching your character murder the boss.
