I think the souls games are incredibly overrated. They're mediocre at best. A lot of their features and design choices are heavily criticized when used in other games but are oddly highly praised when used in Froms games.

I can't use a mouse and keyboard effectively. Using buttons for movement feels so unnatural and I don't even type correctly. I also don't have a proper desk where I can use a mouse with any dexterity, and due to mostly playing emulators I instinctively use the arrow keys for movement (even then only play keyboard for jrpgs) so it's hard to switch.
I just played quake with a controller, the only games I play with mouse and keyboard are RTS and I suck at them/don't play many and never play anything online.

My little brother and I always played together and I always played bass and imagined my custom character's backstory.
I always played bass while my little brother (tried) to play guitar.
