Go watch beaglerush and chrisodd
There are optimum strats, it would take me 20 minutes to type them.
tips: always use cover fill cover if you can. you can skip laser and just go right to plasma if you research the right things and capture aliens. the normal vanilla game isnt hard at all youre just bad if you start losing.
>4-man team
1 sniper, 1 assault, 2 heavys.
Sniper with the final perk that allows them to move again after killing an enemy not in cover. Heavys weaken enemies and use rockets to destroy cover thus setting them up for sniper. Assault as scout and with perk that lets them shoot twice for taking down and weakening the toughest enemies.
>6-man team
2 snipers, 2 heavies, 2 assault or 1 assault and 1 support.
Same tactics as above.

Thanks guys.

I try using 1 or 2 MECs, 1 sniper along with 2 assaults; is that /v/ approved?

Why does this game have better helmets than its' sequel?
Well, besides the sequel not having many helmets in the first place

I never really bothered with MEC's in Within because I already had my ideal strategy for getting through the game in place already.
Snipers NEED squadsight. It is fucking mandatory.
When making MEC troopers wait until the soldier is at least Captain or higher, MEC gain exp at a lower rate then normal.
My squad setup: 1 Sniper, 1 Heavy, 2 Support, 2 Assault.
Overwatch is your friend.

EW/EU helmets have been converted to 2, they're in the workshop and nexus

Cool beans. Thanks for the update
Zhang has higher than average aim for a Heavy.
This means you can make him into a VERY powerful MEC trooper

I hate how Firaxis streamlines their games.

Heavys are the best class in the game.
You could literally just roll all heavy squads and win the thing.
Usually I go 2 MECS with each skilltree then 1 of each class, with Support sometimes being swapped out for another Sniper or Heavy.
Assault/Rangers get red armor
Heavies/Grenadiers get blue armor
Support/Specialists get green armor
Snipers/Sharpshooters get black armor
Psionic/Psi Operatives get white armor
MEC get grey armor with class color highlights
I prefer Halocom.Until the anon in /xcg/ ports over all the Titanfall and Killzone stuff then it'll be Titancom and Killzonecom.
Post your favourite callsigns.
