The second case isn't really remarkable in contrast to some of the other cases, but I thought it was enjoyable enough with the characters and tone. I suppose if you aren't really warming up to it now, you probably shouldn't stick with it.

Why? Because it decided to take a new direction with the series as opposed to rehashing the same characters and formula for the next 10 years?
I'll admit that the whole Jurist system didn't really give way to an easy rehash, but that should have been an opportunity to steer the franchise in a different direction rather than just tossing it in the trash.
The cases weren't nearly as bad as people make them out to be, either. Turnabout Serenade garners far too much irrational hatred, I feel, and while Succession felt a bit rushed, it still had its moments.

That's because he IS the prime suspect. At the time, the police knew of nobody else who could have possibly committed the crime, and Machi had an obvious means of doing it. Just because it's ludicrous doesn't make it impossible.

Just because it's a powerful gun doesn't mean that it'll instantly tear off your arm when you fire it. Plus, again, Machi was the only person believed to lack an alibi AND was the only one believed to be able to leave the crime scene without being caught.

The body transportation doesn't automatically exempt Machi from committing the murder. Even it was proved that somebody else had carried the body, Machi was still the only person believed to have been able to do it, the corpse movement was just icing on the cake.

I really don't get the AJ hate.
Just started playing through the series and am halfway through AJ now.
4-1 was good and 4-2 was really nice and amusing as well.
So far it's certainly better than JFA and the pacing is much better than the slog the other 2 can be.
I miss some features like magatama and showing profiles but overall it's a nice breath of fresh air with a brand new cast that isn't retreading the same damn drama the first 3 cases can't get over.
