most people presume Tanabe wanted to implement Miis into FF but the chibi is there because "muh better visuals for the DS gameplay", he knows people won't like the SD-style nor it'll fit for the know Metroid Prime style. (TL;DR not a permanent style like Wind Waker).
the whole story of FF remains as something actually important to something coming in future numbered Metroid Prime titles (something about Sylux hatred for the GF and Samus) and the Blast Ball aspect being a staple optional tutorial for newcomers of the Metroid Prime sub-series. also, playable feds.
though, i have to admit, ton of fans in 2011 fell in love with the idea of a Metroid Prime spinoff were you can play as the feds or space pirates, like Halo ODST were you play as one of the spartan troops.

I only played Paper Mario 64 and it never really got my interest.
I can understand from a design standpoint why Nintendo wants Mario & Luigi to be the main RPG and Paper Mario to be the quirky arts and crafts Mario adventure game.
That said, I can understand why fans of the first two games would probably be pissed. The last 3 games look downright weird and gimmicky.
You could probably eliminate half the ire surrounding neo-Paper Mario just by spicing up the NPCs a little. But no, everything has to be the same nondescript Toad.

There's like 3 unique Toads in Sticker Star since the level system means you'll never talk to the same Toad besides the Museum guy for more than a couple minutes. Anon, I understand your point of view but we had nearly an hour of casual gameplay. While some things will definitely be better (the paint hammer looks fun & you at least get exp for it) it's literally Sticker Star 2. It rehashes the boss gimmicks, the card system is literally just stickers again, stickerization is practically back & being the same and Toads are primarily the only NPC you'll see, Tabata even said it'd be the case.
