I like to build.
It was better in alpha when ores and various other resources were actually rare.
Now you can go underground and come out with a 64 stack of iron in a half an hour. Basically, it's too easy and dumbed down for the 12 year olds.

The way I see it though, there's no good way to prevent that, seeing as players can always just dig straight down to diamond levels after crafting a stone pickaxe. You always could go search for diamonds right from the start. The difference between alpha and beta and onwards was diamonds were rare as fuck and you were lucky to find more than 3 in an hour of searching at the optimal level.

My only complaint about the hunger update is I wish it would auto-consume food in your inventory. Having to stop periodically and dig out some steaks and eat them is sort of troublesome. Other than that, I like the slow regeneration aspect rather than the eat for instant health aspect.

Except that's not true, there was no change in diamond rarity overall between patches beyond a DECREASE in diamond spawns after beta. The only thing that changed was that ore clumps in larger groups, meaning finding ore is more rare, but it spawns in larger veins, so when you do find it, you find a larger amount of it.

Open the chat and type "/effect [your name] 23 99999 10". This will keep your hunger full. Repeat if it wears off.
Also type "/gamerule naturalRegeneration false" to disable the auto-regenerating health when food is full. Now if you want regen you need to make potions or golden apples.

It's fucking terrible, man. The chat is usually a bit cancerous but it's a /v/ kind of cancer and it's slow. Now the chat is spammed 24/7 at the speed of light by literal 12 year olds, asking shit like "how do I set my home" or "can someone invite me to their faction". Sometimes they just spam garbage characters like "3jgnoasiegao" over and over because it's the first time they've ever been able to do something like that without being banned.
To make it worse some guy who regularly plays on the server has made his own youtube series about 2b2t saying how we welcome new players and all you need to be a "veteran" player is a special shield design and to subscribe to his channel. What a load of cancer. To be fair his videos are pretty good but I wish he wouldn't fucking advertise so we don't have 1,000 people trying to play at all times.

One of those Feed the Beast modpacks, like direwolf20, or unleashed. Those modpacks give a ton of content, but it's fun figuring out how to build, for example, a rubber tree farm, or setting up a ME (mass energy) system, which is basically a searchable chest with expandable capacity. Takes a lot of resources but that's what quarries are for.
I never really got the people who actually liked the mining part for more than a half hour.
Are there any mods or modpacks that add RPG elements like classes and shit? I know there used to be some, but they all look dead and years behind.

With a modpack it's an amazing experience.
If you don't know much about the pack it can be a bit overwhelming, but once you start getting it figured out it turns into an amazing experience of seeing crazy new things around every corner, and very satisfying progression (nothing like getting a computer form AE2 running for the first time, except maybe, getting an autocrafting setup going)
Some mods are a little crazy (Thaumcraft stands out) but are still very rewarding (golems are the cutest automation and wands with foci are fun as fuck)

It is a blast when you have no idea what you're doing and think you're going to be able to do insane stuff, but the second you realize how barebones it all is you lose the desire to play pretty fast.
A lot of the added in content was put in place just to make the game less convenient, like tall grass being over fucking everything and the hunger bar. Both of these things completely destroy the two best things Minecraft has going for it: Building and exploring.
I've also always wanted to see a quest system get added to the game with villagers. They could ask you to build them a wall, golems, or just expand their village and give you shit for it. The monsters should have been more fleshed out as well, they pose literally no threat provided you use caution and aren't retarded.

Not to mention that leather, which is only dropped by cows, is absolutely necessary, because you need it to make books now, and you need books in order to enchant things. And without enchanting you're missing basically all of the equipment progression in the game. So while you HAVE to raise cows, raising pigs is just a waste of time.
Fuck, they could just make pigs drop fat or something. Let it be used as a substitute for coal when making torches. Let it be burned for fuel. Make it into bouncy fat blocks, I don't know.

I still played it after that update and I love the survival stuff, but I agree.
When I say I love the survival stuff, I liked when the survival aspect was all mostly combat oriented. Having to eat after a set period of time just added another layer of annoyance to distract from why I played the game. Using food to replenish life was good enough, it gave you a choice of farming if you put yourself in risky situations a lot, or offered a safety net in case you got fucked by a creeper. Now, it is mandatory you have to be a farmer, and you have to farm, all the time, between building.
Before the hunger update a typical day in Minecraft sort of went like:
>mine, mine, mine, fight, mine, build, build, fight, build
Now it's:
>mine, mine, farm, fight, farm, mine, build, build, farm, farm, build
And you can't really change that unless you go onto a server where someone is providing you food for materials you mine so you don't have to worry about that obnoxiousness.
That said, I don't really like how powerful the armor/weapons became after enchanting. It was cool at first, but once you enchant a set of diamond armor, you don't really have to worry about anything when mining in a dark, expansive cave solo, not anymore at least. It's really boring how unexciting this game became, and while you don't have to wear it; just like an exploit you know everyone is going to do it once it becomes available.
Minecraft isn't fun like it once was.
Should I get this for the Wii U? Never played this game fully, and I don't have a computer that can process it well. Of the times, I played it, I always found myself stuck in it for hours, especially with local multiplayer

Be aware that none of the console versions have infinite worlds. The world size is actually fairly small.
Computer version is BY FAR the best due to mods and infinite world, but if you want vanilla mc and are not bothered by limited worlds, the console versions work fine.

Some mods to watch for:
>Tinker's Construct
Adds new ores and a buildable forge and casting table. Crafting weapons requires pouring molten alloys into moulds to form blades and handles. Makes early game more fun and end game more rewarding, since your equipment is more personalized. Also doubles ore returns if used to smelt.
>Applied Energistics 2
Adds computers. Computers act as massive storage devices, which can be upgraded and accessed from anywhere you place a terminal (and wire it up). Starts quite tedius, but can eventually be built into an autocrafting station that makes life easier.
>IndustrialCraft 2
Adds a ton of machines with different functions. Works very well with Applied Energistics, so definatly get this as well if you get it. Allows for pulverizing ore, smelting using power instead of coal, creative high end end game ores, converting certain items into liquids, powering devices that need power, and various other things that are way more interesting than they sound.
>Big Reactors
Best power generators. AE2 and IC2 both have their own method of generating power, but Big Reactors is the most enjoyable way in my opinion.

This is the mod you get if you really want to spend stupidly large amounts of time dicking around in minecraft. It is a very VERY involved mod, with a huge number of things to do and a huge number of steps to take to get them. It's a harsh mod, where you're not really handed easy ways to do things, but rewarding. Eventually allows you to have a wand which casts various spells, a regenerating shield, and golem workers that carry out tasks for you. Involved, but highly rewarding. Recommend the other mods to make it eaiser, and also to start Thaumcraft a bit later into your game.

Yes you're charged for texture packs but in the newest version there is a battle mini game (Hunger Games but very shorter and smaller maps)

Anything that makes resource gathering/item storage a bit easier is almost vital for Thaumcraft because it consumes massive resources and takes ages to do.
You get an ore doubling furnace VERY late into the mod, so you defiantly want Tinkers Construct at least to double ore output. Not to mention build an Excavator so you can dig 3x3 patches of clay (you need lots of clay)

I took a two-house village and expanded it. I got another house I'm working on, and I think another that's already finished. The original houses are to the right, or where I'm at on the map. Breeding villagers is too complicated for its own good, so I just cure any zombified ones I come across.
