Reach had better forge and custom options and 3 was mechanically fucked with bouncy castle jumping and RNG BR spread. The campaign was also completely forgettable aside from 2 scarabs. Brutes are boring as hell to fight against and Cortana is the worst mission in the series by a landslide.
How anyone other than people who played it in the series first can defend it blows my mind.

Tsavo Highway alone was more interesting than the entirety of Halo 2's campaign. I can't even say Halo 2's campaign was longer because all they did was split one level into 2 missions to artificially extend it.
It's the best multiplayer in the series not named Halo 3. The campaign is beyond awful, though.

It's really not that bad desu. It has a lot of positives over 4, reach, even 3, but also a lot of minor issues that add up. Like having best forge and custom options to date, allowing for some truly creative customs BUT no splitscreen means they will be useless and unplayable after a certain point.

In terms of the campaign, the writing and plot is just straight up garbage. The level design is mediocre with the only memorable parts being sanghelios.
The multiplayer is alright, nothing incredible or as good as Halo 2 or 3. Weapons are actually balanced now, but vehicle play is not very good. Customs and forge are great, but no splitscreen. Warzone is a fun idea, but the req system is flawed. Not to mention the Insane grind to unlock any of the 5 good looking armor sets and req weapons. And the customization is completely gimped and no where near reach.
