Is it worth getting into berserk? Apparently the story hasn't progressed much in the last 8 years, is it one of those series that declines in quality at some point and never recovers?
Remember when Berserk was good?
Berserk is so fucking good.
I read 114 chapters in the past two days. Rereading it gives me some hope for the future of the series.
There's no way Miura would just abandon such a fantastic piece of fiction, right?
>>342830643
Series ain't progressed much only because the release schedule is fucked, year long hiatuses a plenty
can you help me berserkbros
i stopped reading(no idea why)around part with attack of some demon tigers or something
does anyone know what chapter was that
>>342830643
it declined in quality since Miura became obsessed with moeshit
>>342830643
Golden Age arc is good, but overall it's not worth it.
>>342830643
> Apparently the story hasn't progressed much in the last 8 years
Because of constant hiatuses causing the release schedule to be assfuced. The story itself progresses well
>is it one of those series that declines in quality at some point and never recovers?
Some people don't like that it isn't as dark and edgy as it was in the beginning 'cause Guts has friends now. The only negative is that Puck, a character introduced in Volume 1, is now pretty much only there for comic relief now.
Some people think that it peaked at Golden Age and nothing afterwards is as good.
Those people are retarded, or skipped parts like Conviction completely.
>>342830643
There is very little decline in quality
The only time I felt it was when Captain Hook showed up but even then it's better than most comics.
>>342831241
Around chapter 260.
>>342831429
Yes, Conviction arc is the pinnacle of comic book medium. The holy trinity of Berserk, Corto Maltese and Tintin.
>>342831549
If you include Lost Children as part of Conviction then sure.
And assuming you include the Hill of Swords encounter as part of Conviction.
>>342831614
No, just Mozgus and the Egg Apostle, rest is weaker.
>>342831429
>Puck is just comic relief now
Well no shit.
Guts was an emotional mess and if it wasn't for Puck's goofy shit in the beginning things would be insanely grim.
Now that Guts has friends and stuff it's kind of a moot point to try to liven the mood with Puck.
It's better this than killing Puck off imo
>>342830643
Eh, parts of the early Fantasia arc (the parts on the fucking ship) wasn't the best in relation to the rest of the series, but has some of the hypest moments ever in recent chapters.
>>342831698
>not liking Lost Children
Whoa, kill yourself.
Honestly, if you reread Berserk there's no real decline in quality or pacing issues, it just feels like it because we get like a chapter a year
They weren't even on the boat that long
>>342831549
How about summa dat Alexandro Jodorowsky?
Metabarons is the coolest shit.
>>342831012
Bad new, he lose his edge
>>342831549
>Corto Maltese
Looks cool, never heard of it before. I'm not /co/, is it good?
>>342832035
How exactly? Recent chapters are as good as anything else he has written.
>>342831918
Yeah, you're right, he can squeeze in as well.
>>342832130
I've noticed it's quite unknown in America and that there were some botched editions in the past. As far as I know they started publishing it with proper quality control in the last year or two. Yes, it is in fact the best adventure comic ever created along with Tintin, about a man, a vagabond, a sailor drifting along the back roads of 20th century history. It has outstanding writing and is dripping with style. Like a low key Lawrence of Arabia of comic books. Lost causes, dead-on-arrival ideologies, there's even a Rasputin who's not quite Rasputin you'd expect.
>>342832391
Fuckin' sold. That does sound amazing.
>>342832391
>I've noticed it's quite unknown in America
And apparently quite expensive too.
>>342832910
As far as I know the whole run isn't out yet, only several chapters, perhaps a third of the output. Best if you can read french, there's a HQ torrent out there.
>>342832802
Happy reading. Both bw (original) and colored editions are high quality.

>Read 114 chapters in 2 days
You haven't experienced berserk. You will be an acknowledged reader of berserk in 2 years, when you are up to a grand total of 117 chapters. If at that time you are still following the series, then you are a berserk fan.
Where is the best place to read the manga?
>>342833564
On your computer with a mangareader. I use MMCE WIN32 personally. If I remember right there's a good torrent on Bakabt.
>>342833564
Best translated Torrents here:

They're currently translating the newest chapter that came out two days ago.
Use any image viewing software, although I recommend HoneyView3.
>>342833685
I use manga rock. A third party app for android. It's free and pretty convenient reading manga from my smartphone.

Huh, thought about reading manga on my phone but haven't devoted much research into it. How do you do it? Do you download the files onto your phone directly or transfer them from your computer?
I'm quite new into smartphones, only got one a year or so ago and haven't done much with it.
>>342833564
Anywhere that isn't slow as shit and lets you load a whole chapter at once.
>>342833842

>>342834142

Being a Berserk fan is suffering.
Even Togashi of all people have put out more chapters recently.
