I just finished watching Blade Runner and i have a terirble need for Cyberpunk

So i bought the originale Deus Ex
Should I know anything before jumping right in?

Your brother is a GEP gun who works for Majestic 12
>>
Nope, it's better to experience it blind without any guides or mods.
Just make sure to do the tutorial first.

You should know that your appointment with FEMA shall be finalized within the week.

At the very start get the GEP gun. Then keep in mind that some doors have durability for a reason, a rocket is a good alternative to lockpics.

Also Computers is a god skill while Swimming and Environmental are a waste of EXP.
>>
>>342819301
Don't put points in swimming.
A fully upgraded assault rifle does everything a fully upgraded sniper rifle does
Always be on the lookout for secret areas, optional objectives, and alternate solutions
>>
>>342819301
Remember to fully expend your batteries regularly. Keeping yourself charged at all times is bad for their extended life, and can cause headaches.
>>
>>342819301
remember
stick with the prod
prod with the prod
just in case though, we're police

quicksave before a door to see if it was worth the lockpicks :^)

anyone know good mods for this. was playing revision but it didn't seem all that great. not interested in graphics mods.

Go full melee, Dragon Tooth Sword is op as fuck

Is there a mod that change the control layout to a more modern one?
>>
if you don't get it then just play on for a bit. a lot of people drop off during the first mission but it gets good, swear to god
>>
>>342819626
GMDX is the best. It does visual upgrades though as a part of the package.
>>
>>342819650
>Is there a mod that change the control layout to a more modern one?

Just edit the controls yourself.
>>
>>342819650

Yep, it's built into the game by default. It's called the settings menu.
>>
>>342819301
You're law enforcement, stick with the prod.

No really though, guns are shit, use a sniper occasionally, gep when you need to.

And explore as much as you can
>>
>>342819516
Also once you get the dragon tooth sword you can break doors with a single swing, especially with augments
>>
>>342819902
>guns are shit

t. Someone who never reached mastery level with guns

A Silenced Pistol with a scope and perfect accuracy is GOAT. Headshots everywhere.

It's not really worth it though. It's too easy to beeline it and miss things if you're just shooting down people in your way. Skilling melee encourages more pathfinding and exploration in terms of how you do stealth
>>
>>342820185
>Against commandos and MiB too?

For those you get the silenced gep gun and do stealthy takedowns with it.

- Upgrade at least one combat skill (Pistols is recommended for first playthroughs) so you're never fucked if you're forced to fight
- Taking one upgrade in Computers enables hacking
- Play the tutorial. It actually gives a very good overview of the available actions and solutions to different situations
- Remember to save manually. The game autosaves only at loading screens

>>
>>342820185
Shots while you are unseen do more damage.
If you have Master level in pistol, all of the upgrades and are hiding, a headshot kills anything.
>>
>>342820293
You get the what now? I don't remember there being a silent fucking rocket launcher in the game.
>>
>>342820185
>Against commandos and MiB too?

The right type of gun is good against everything, even potentially bots which all melee sucks for.

Upgrading your weapons skill increases the damage they do.

>You could just body shot with a tranq and wait

They'll sound the alarm before the tranq kicks in.
>>
>>342819697
hm... okay.
>>
>>342820286

You can shoot people in the face and explore.

And you can also melee and use guns if you want to, although that might neglect points somewhere else.
>>
>>342820385

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it doesn't make a sound. If everyone but you is dead than that counts as stealth.

Might as well use the GEP gun
>>342820396
And this right type of gun is?

GEP, bot aug or lams. You'll run out of bullets before you take down the big ones.
>>
>>342819516
swimming is for speedruns
>>
>>342820553

Realistic is my favorite since both you and the enemies are more vulnerable. Hard is a bit harder than that but I think enemies just have more health or something.
>>
>>342820716
>>342820553
Like him. And for some reason on realistic the enemies just walk past me when I'M not even that hidden.
>>
>>342820682

Swiming has many issues but it's not useful everywhere. Although it was amusing to find out there is a massive underwater area in Area 51 during a second playthrough.
>>
>>342819301
The one think I can suggest is getting Biomod, shit's great and you're not forced to do box platforming.
>>
>>342820618

The GEP gun is the "right type of gun" for bots. It is a gun, you know? But the grenade launcher and shotgun work okay as well.

There is no combat in the game for which guns skills are useless for but there are for which melee is, that's my point.
>>
>>342820843

I have no idea what kind of field of vision enemies have or if it's affected by difficulty. It's pretty narrow and doesn't have a lot of range.
>>

Hit them on the back of their ass, not the back of their head.

Trust me.
>>
>>342820553
Don't. It just makes open combat pointless because enemies wipe your health away in seconds, or worse, just one shot you without warning.

>>342820716
No, enemies are not weaker on Realistic. That applies only to Deus Ex 2.
>>
>>342821124

I never find the combat in Deus Ex particularly hard, you can always use cover and there is a million buffs against bullets.

Why does nobody ever get this right?
Swimming is useful. AT TRAINED, not above or below. There will be times you fall into water and have to get out, or an underwater tunnel you can swim through to avoid some guards and find some stuff. Of course it's not required, but it has it's uses.
Trained is enough, it costs like 400 points anyway.
>>
>>342820110
No, opening your inventory while lockpicking or hacking to save multitools and lockpicks isn't cheating either.
>>
>>342819541
Don't listen to this idiot. He'll ruin the game for you. You need to make sure you put a significant number of points in swimming.

hard is fine for reasons below (you will whore quicksave and have infinite medkits/candy/soy/soda because any encounters leave you with 100% or 0% hp thus ruining all tensions of fights and you will basically quickload as soon as you hear 'uh oh!')

>>342819585
unnecessary, game floods you with lockpicks/multitools to the point where we are absolutely not able to contain them

>>342819301
you don't need to hide bodies because enemies literally walk on by because playtesters, despite the tutorial emphasising hiding bodies
realistic difficulty makes most enemies one-shot kill your head with 9mm pistols and above
the gep gun is the only weapon paul can give you that isn't available in the first level
the baton does more damage from behind to the torso than to the head, arms, or legs
pepper spray is viable because it stuns enemies and makes them receive 4x damage from your weapons (lethal and nonlethal)
taser does not incapacitate enemies, only stun
tranquiliser darts' damage ticks will stun enemies briefly and prevent them from using alarm panels
level swimming, skill aqualung, receive every shortcut and bonus area in the game
almost every single environment can be cleared using a criminally small number of lockpicks and multitools - using every door so far in the game i have still been throwing away dozens of picks and tools for levels and levels now
secret rooms are a thing
explore FUCKING EVERYWHERE

>>342819626
Shifter mod adds lots of quality of life improvements and positive gameplay changes that blend well with the core gameplay and themes while unintrusively adding in new methods of circumventing problems, as well as restoring some minor cut content from the pre-release game. having a lot more fun after installing shifter than i did beforehand.
also install the deus ex opengl shader fix because it's probably good
>>
>>342819301
During creating character:
- remove pistols to untrained; for some reason when You start the game, pistols are AGAIN trained; You simply come up with extra points

Also:
- snoop around a lot, You might find a lot of picklocks and other tools
- take Your weapon of preference and invest it with upgrades
- stick to the prod and baton; going non-lethal saves ammunition + some people will admire You approach rewarding You for that
- take GEP gun from Paul. Rest of the weapons is easily accesible AFTER the first mission
- to open the locked door consider the following:
-- find the key or the code, it might be somewhere around
-- when You have arms augs, You might try to destroy the door with baton or other melee weapon
-- use gep gun or other explosives to destroy the door
-- use lockpick
- with arms aug You can try do destroy electronic devices, for instance cameras

Don't waste lockpicks on doors you can break

If you aren't going non-lethal, don't bother with putting points in melee - the dragon tooth will kill anything regardless

lockpicking and hacking skills are a godsend

If going non-lethal, remember that the mini-crossbow is fucking useless. Enemies spaz out and scream for ten seconds when you hit them with the tranq dart. Headshots take them out in one second, so if you have to use it, get up close

Do everything in your power to milk those xp points. You're going to need every last one.

Stock up on multitools

Get augs that enable exploration rather than grant you combat prowess.

When you think you're done searching an area, go back and check again, just to be sure. The game hides a lot of stuff from you and you could be missing out on precious exploration bonus xp

Try not to cum too much when you get to Hong Kong and see how fucking amazing it is
>>
>>342819301
Don't feel obliged to go non-lethal, the game doesn't cuck you for killing like the newer ones do.

- Don't get discouraged by the size of starting area
- Explore carefully, TONS of secrets in every map
- Computer and lockpicking are a must, electronics somewhat close second
- Ignore swimming, first aid, environmental and heavy guns
- Decide early on if you wanna be a pistol or rifle guy (I suggest rifle as that enables both warfare and sniping gameplay)
- Some doors can actually be broken with explosives
- Decisions stick. Helping one character early on can mean him remembering it and give you quests and stuff when revisiting the map hours and hours later
- Most NPC's can be killed during missions, even vital ones or people you wouldn't expect and the game reacts to it
- You can kill the UNATCO soldier on top of liberty island statue for an easy early on rifle
- Talk to everyone, explore everywhere, swim underwater, look out of windows, there's secret passages everywhere
- She lost her virginity there
