Anyway, I have a question. Pic related is the only version of the 1070 you can get at the moment where I live. It's 500 euro, which is at least cheapter than all the other models. Should I get that one? Has anyone got experience with Palit?

I'm waiting for vega as frankly the 1080 doesn't offer enough of a performance leap from what my overclocked 290x can reach (which is roughly around fury to fury x levels).

If it really is between a 970 and 980 and the actual game benchmarks turn out good I'll definitely get one. My HD 7850 is starting to annoy me, I can't even run Skyrim with ENB's at playable frame rates. I assume with the 480 @1080p I could pretty much near max out everything.

CPU cooling is an entirely different beast and you know it. Besides, my cpu has over a 1ghz overclock (3.2ghz base overclocked to 4.7ghz).
Anyway this is off topic - the point is the current high end offerings available today are not fast to warrant me dropping the sort of money they are asking.

Runs well, going to try out VR once oculus gets restocked.
Only problem I had was the factory settings put it to always be as quiet as possible so it idled at like 65c which i guess is fine but annoyed me. I used MSI afterburning to set a fan curve and now I idle around 30 and my load temp is about 60-70

I'm still running my Antec NeoEco 520C (520W), so I'm not even sure if I can use any of the new GPUs coming out which is part of the reason I haven't upgraded, along with not being really interested in most new games.
That said, my 6950 is getting pretty old, so I'm considering moving on up to a 480 or a 1070. I'm at 1080p 60Hz, so I don't really think I need a 490 or 1080 or whatever. Even those two are probably overkill, but I like my hardware to last a while if I can.

Mine literally just died a few weeks ago right after upgrading to a new mobo + ram + cpu. It took me two days to figure out wtf was wrong, I thought it must have been the case power pins in the wrong spot, or dead mobo, ram, or cpu.
I took it into a local computer repair place and the guy tested the psu on the spot and showed that it was dead, I then went straight to bestbuy and bought a cheap thermaltake 600w psu and it also turned out to be dead so I had to buy a $80 modular Corsair 750w psu.
I swear to God every time I do something hardware related with my PC it is always a headache.

I have a 970 and I don't really the see the point to upgrade, since I stay on 1080p. Maybe if the 490 starts at 300 usd I might consider.
Or I might buy a superclocked 480 for 300usd.
Should I upgrade my 390 soon? I'm inclined to stick with AMD as I have a FreeSync monitor but if Nvidia's offerings are better then I'll go green.

I don't really regret it. The non reference cards cost like $430+ and you only get a few FPS more. I'm not an overclocker and I have an ITX build, so a blower cooler is appropriate for me.
Feels good to live in America where stock was available and not horribly overpriced because of tariffs and and the exchange rate and shit so I actually got one for $450.
