I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of video games and the culture surrounding them.
I'm in my 20s, work an office job, know only 1 person that plays games. I think video games will be a lot more normal for future generations, but a lot of kids growing up in the 90's repressed that hobby if they had it at all. It's recent that being "lol so nerdy xD" became a thing.

Seems like this varied wildly geographically, fucking everyone (boys, atleast) played vidya when I went through school in the 90s and it's not unusual for the younger (~30) men to still do it at my job. I'm in R&D though which probably skews things a bit.
