Multiplayer will come later after they deliver the important parts of the game. And this isn't a roguelike or Pikmin, it doesn't need to be randomly generated each time nor could it be with the specific places you need to go to. They can easily add onto the world with new biomes and areas as time goes on.

Ah, the bugged Reefbacks that spawn at 5x the normal size and spin constantly. I honestly hope they'll keep it, after fixing the bigs of course, have mega-Reefbacks that rarely spawn in the wide-open deep areas and wander around. They can be the ones that have other flora and fauna on their backs with stuff you can harvest and avoid/kill.

>>
>>342797983
>Its gotten constant development since 2014 with no end in sight.

If this game's development is anything but Natural Selection 2 they will eventually get it perfect, and every patch after that will make it worse and worse until the game is unplayable.

And then the developers will smugly ignore the community claiming they know better.

If you mean Hugh, you couldn't be more wrong. Charlie Cleveland, the guy who wrote the "no guns" thing promoted Hugh from PR man to full blown producer of Subnautica even though Hugh fucked up NS2 at every turn and was a PR disaster. People think it's because Hugh and Charlie have the same political opinions so he promoted him in spite of his huge failures.

>>342799229
I haven't heard much of it lately. Last I saw of it was on steam forums a month or two ago. Maybe I'm out of the loop. For a lot of the development I've seen concept art and the devs going "hey we did this really cool thing that may in the game sometime this year." Hell, the nuclear reactor didn't get a model for over 8 months or something like that.

>>
>>342799567
There's a lot to do, and they're working hard to get it done. All of the current creatures and objects and stuff are in the game, Experimental Mode lets you spawn them, and the Emperor and Dragon are coming along nicely. The Dragon has nearly all of its animations aside from fire-breathing and its roars, and the Emperor has a good amount of its animations. Look up recently-made LPs on Youtube and you'll find people checking out everything and see the progress.
>>
>>342799931

Even find large creature eggs and have them grow in them too.
The larger fish can be used in Bio Reactors.
Three bio reactors is enough for simple bases at depth.

Start off by crafting an air tank, flippers, and a radiation suit. Then begin exploring everything and look for scannable objects to start unlocking things to build. You're going to have to go aboard the Aurora to fix its engines at some point to stop the radiation it's leaking, but be VERY careful when going to the ship, because at least two or three Reaper Leviathans will be patrolling different places around it.

They never said they're flat-out not doing MP, they are interested but they're not going to do it until the game's out and established. There's a lot that has to be done to make a game like this work well in MP mode and it's best to focus on it and not split the work between it and other things.

Charlie is a pretty good developer with lots of game dev experience (over 15 years). The problem is he has some of the world's worst character judgement of all time.

He put Hugh (a guy who had no experience in making games) as producer of Subnautica after he was PR for Natural Selection 2. And he was the worst PR ever for the game (the community very quickly hated him and he botched Steam sales), and somehow Charlie felt that a promotion was warranted. He's been ruining NS2 by using his "producer" role to drive the game into a direction that is running it into the ground. The same for Subnautica is inevitable.

How do you even know what I'm talking about? Go to SteamCharts and look at the massive drop of players shortly after launch

That's when Hugh started his reign of terror. It happened BEFORE the competitive focus where people became elitist.

I think Subnautica will also be filled with decisions the players don't agree with and the only saving grace will be a specific build prior to where everything goes wrong sort of like a Nostralius effect.
