1914 was a field war, large armies were fighting each other on open ground.
From 1915 to 1917 it was mainly trench warfare, but from late 1917 to the end it became much more similar to WW2 with sturmtruppen and other kinds of assault squads essentially using combat tactics that were used in WW2.
Then tanks, submarines, planes, zeppelins, gas attacks, etc.
There was plenty of stuff going on in WW1.
