The game is honestly pretty bad. The world is boring and the levels and enemies aren't that well designed or fun to play through. No sense of atmosphere or adventure like Demon/DaS 1.
PvP could sort of make up for that except it's shit too. No poise, ridiculously fast rolling and movement, instant healing, gank squads, lack of build variety, etc. So all in all the game doesn't really succeed on any fronts, hopefully the DLC will be good.

What is the point of the PvP in Dark Souls 3? It's never really PLAYER vs PLAYER within invasions, since FromSoft discourages invading by prioritizing groups of 4 people to go against one.
Not only that, but now there are dedicated gank squads that wait for invaders just to kill them.

Thing is, they even caught up to pvp tryharding with parries. Of the 4, one will typically have a fast weapon with a greatshield, another two hands an unparriable weapon like a greataxe or UGS, the other can shoot you with magic or arrows, and the host just rushes you with possibly another unparriable weapon while still keeping a safe distance.
The enemies are more often than not already dead, and even if you get them against the group, their weapons are strong enough to one-shot enemies or they will ignore enemies altogether. Now before you say I'm salty about ganks, I wanna point out that 1v1 duels are just as pointless and boring.
1v1 revolves around using the "meta" weapon of the month, in this case Onikiri and Ubadachi come to mind after their buff, to deal massive amounts of damage with little to no effort at all.
Parrying is inconsistent, and you are basically forced to use a caestus or something else to parry reliably, and even those fail due to the natural lag between players because the connection issues are still present.
Every fight usually goes the same way over and over, and I just don't see the point in it. Maybe PvP in these games is just not for me. I preferred if they kept online interactions to a minimum and focused on single player content like with Bloodborne. Here's hoping the DLC adds much more.

i use the dragonslayer swordspear and mainly play with my faith build, and the only thing about them that is really dangerous is the weapon art is hard to punish, but theyre beatable for sure, just outrange them, the range on the onikiri and ubadachi weapon art got a big nerf, its certainly a high tier weapon, up there with the dragonslayer greataxe aka the flyswatter if you're fighting someone using the onikiri and ubadachi, larger weapons will just swat them out of the air

I don't know what it is about Dark Sous 3 but it's just so... boring.
I didn't even bother replaying it after my initial playthrough.
I've beaten Souls 1 like 20 times, 2 about 3 or 4 times, but 3 I only finished once and then didn't feel like playing it anymore.
I don't know if that's because I've just played this much Souls that I don't care about the series anymore, or if 3 really is more boring than the previous games.
Then again, all of my friends stopped playing it too. No one I know talks about or plays 3 anymore. Meanwhile me and my buds were still playing Souls 1 way after release.

I think the repetitiveness is what gets to people. We got mostly the same weapons... again. The same movesets again, almost the same stats for our characters, almost the same faith/magic/pyro spells.
We got little to no story again, with a bit more details about certain things here and there but that's about it. The Cathedral of the Deep looks cool but is ultimately uninteresting to me, because all descriptions and lore just hint at something more, and we won't have that more until DLC, or maybe never. That's just one example.
So yeah, the same stuff over and over for 3 games straight brings out the burnout way faster. I'm only still playing to pass the time because I'm too lazy to do other stuff with my free time.

Which is why so many were disappointed with how Bloodborne PvP worked. The game, as a single player experience, was absolutely fantastic and the DLC just made it better. They fixed performance issues up the ass and made the whole thing enjoyable.

Well, it's 3 against 1, note 4. Invaders are prioritised in worlds with a party because the game gets a lot easier with in coop, invasions balances that. I think the problems are the non existant summoning penalties, fog travel being too safe for the host, seed of giant being to easy to farm and not to mention the fact that the invader losses their souls on death, a straight fuck you from the devs.
Though if i could change only a single thing i would allow a second invader once you summon a third phantom and so on.

Too lazy to do NG+ and hand the covenant items in to earn the achievements at the moment, but I anticipated that From was going to dick over the playerbase by preventing transfers between accounts. So I transferred a 30 ear character before the update that stopped transfers went live.
