Not sure why people complain about Persona's localizations, I've actually compared quite a bit between the English and Japanese versions, and they're generally pretty good. The way they use the honorifics is more fucked up than I've seen from any fan-translator, but generally they're pretty solid, and I hear that they don't even use honorifics outside of Persona, so they're non-Persona localizations are probably even better.

Honorifics are a big part of the reason but so is their choice to just keep on doing English voiceover with honorifics in that as well. If they wanted some shitty immersion they'd just fucking have JP audio.
Overall it just makes the localisation look and sound like fandub/sub at best

Either you translate it properly and feel good about yourself and make the people who like accuracy happy, or you change it to something that doesn't make sense, like questions about American history in Japanese history class. Though they have changed some of the quizzes and class content in the games.

Yeah really, it's a bad argument, because you're always going to leave some people out. So you change Persona class quizzes to stuff about American history, but what about the Europeans? It's best to just leave it alone and translate it, except for special situations.

Not yet, and I plan on playing the Japanese version, if at all. I've heard it's pretty bad. Did 8-4 do it? I thought they gave it to an amateur studio, considering how bad I've heard it was and the fact that 8-4 translated Shing as Shing, Kohaku as Amber, and Hisui as Jadeite a year or two before Hearts R, which changed two names back and Shing to Kor.
