Try some compatibility settings, but I'd suggest playing the PS2 version. Supposedly the PC one had a game-breaking bug related to the sand-wraith. I didn't found it, but better safe than sorry.

Yeah the PC version is really buggy. I couldn't get one of the health upgrades because the prince wouldn't wall jump downwards for me. Ps2 is the safer option.
