I work at a shit call center. The brainwashing is so fucking real though. All of these young kids feel like they're walking into a prestigious company with well respected people.. But when they get on the phones everything is shit. Our performance is ranked on how well we do. If a customer is angry there's not much you can do.

The thing you have to understand about Homestuck is that the #1 thing that made it popular was how often it updated, which is to say "multiple times every day" and sometimes "multiple times every hour"
So it was basically a boundless fountain of talking points, discussion, fanart, etc. Basically the entire reason the fandom was so large and vocal was because we had so much to talk about at all times, every day.
I was an impressionable teen when I started reading it too and you probably know how that shit goes.
I'm just glad I got "out" out a couple years ago after the well dried up.
