If we're talking about racing games, kb+m isn't that good, but it's still fully playable. A controller is already comfier while being better, and finally a wheel is the most precise and overall best solution you can find.
If we're talking about FPSs, nothing is advantageous as the mouse. Playing them on a controller is still more comfortable than playing with a keyboard, yet it will never be as useful.

MGSV is one of the few games that is just fine with both.
I started with DS4 because I assumed it would be best but then later found KB+M feels really good too, but not so much better to make myself feel gimped when I use a gamepad.
Kojima's team really put effort into that port.

I find that this varies from person to person.
A lot of gamepad people assume KB+M people only use it for superior accuracy, but that's not necesarily true.
KB+M feels more natural to me, I get more immersed into a first person game when using it.
It's all what you're used to.
I bought GTAV on 360 and didn't play more than 2 hours of it until it came out on PC just simply because I can't stand aiming with a control stick, but obviously people who primarily play consoles had no issue because they only really know aiming with a control stick.
