Now I know this is technically old news, but one thing about this interview bothers the hell out of me:

>Kobayashi: “Are people used to playing on PC with a game pad in Europe?”

How the fuck is it possible to be this disconnected from an entire userbase of potential customers?

A good company always looks to expand its list of clients. How is it possible to not know something this fundamental, going in to an interview like this?

Microsoft, one of the biggest technology companies on Earth, makes controllers like this exclusively FOR the PC (https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Xbox-One-Wired-Controller-+-Cable-for-Windows/productID.307070800).

And at some point this mongoloid hasn't realize that this is a thing yet?

It baffles me how someone so high up in a corporation can not know something this basic.
>>
I notice on a lot of steam forums poorfag third-worlders chimping out when a game doesn't support keyboard very well and people tell them just to use their controller.
>"wuh??? not everyone has a controller cyka blyat!"
>>
>>342705127

Really? If you can afford a PC you can afford a fucking controller too.

Yeah but you'd think corporate greed would nudge them a little higher up the ladder than this, right?

Do they not want to make money?
>>

>hurrr controllers

Keyboard and mouse are superior ANYWAY, you cannot control a camera with the degree of precision of a mouse, it's a fucking fact, it's not a fucking matter of ifs or buts, it's a matter of not being a fucking tech illiterate like this "developer", they are unprofessional fucks, they can keep their weeb shit on consoles for all I care.

>>

That' can't be true?
>>
>>342706158

That wasn't really the point I was trying to get across.

It was more what kind of cultural gap and lack of information there must be on their parts if PC-controllers is somehow news to them.
>>
>>342704832
and now you realise why Japan is falling behind on every possible way...

it surprises me that people do this too. people should only use kb/m on desk, controller on couch. sitting with a gamepad on your desk 30 inches away from the screen all hunched over is just goofy as fuck

What if I have a recliner in front of my PC? Though that's probably even more goofy.

you people are fucking retarded
most people who play on PC dont have controllers
releasing a game on PC that REQUIRES a controller is suicide
>>

Yeah but what I think OP means is how can you possibly stick around in the video game industry for so long and not accidentally notice that people are connecting controllers to their PCs.

>>342708059
This is a problem. Perfect input method is a mouse with one of those logitech keypads with the stick for your thumb. You get accurate mouse control, analogue movement with your thumb, and access to a ton of buttons (significantly more than on a controller). They have alt functions as well so you'll have at least as many within reach as on a regular keyboard without weird stretching to the V or Z keys. Check it out if you can afford it, I think Razer does a similar one but Logitech is less likely to break on you.

>>
>>342711484
It doesn't.
>>
>>342711551
The first game is barely playable with a keyboard. It doesn't even have keyboard prompts ingame. A game like star ocean would work even better with a keyboard
>>
Ok, real talk but what games/genre that a controller is superior to m+kb?
>>
>>342711850
Only games that require precise analog movement
>>
>>342711850
GTA driving, piloting those stupid RC planes and planes. Fucking fuck mk+b wrecked my hand on that segment.
>>
>>342711850
mirror's edge
>>
>>342711850
Action games, basically things where precise movement is needed. If precise aiming or "action speed" is needed for things like RTS then mouse is superior.

Platformers and action games like Souls, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden etc work significantly better on gamepad to the point where they're not worth playing if you don't have access to one. They're arguably better for long turn-based RPGs too since they're less straining on your hands over long periods of time (more ergonomic and comfy since you can lean back and play on the sofa).
>>
>>342711692
Yet it is playable.
>>
>>342712953
And so would be star ocean. Better even
>>
>>342704832

Japan has a hard time understanding the PC market, who knows.

Tales made the jump to PC and somehow that didn't ring any bells for these guys, you'd think with games like the Souls series also being huge on PC that they'd put 2 and 2 together but nope, amazing. I hear SO is a really short game but I'd still get it on PC if they released it.
>>
>>342713062
Never said it wouldn't.
>>
>How the fuck is it possible to be this disconnected from an entire userbase of potential customers?

This is the key.
>>
>>342715449

And this was the best he could come up with? I'd rather he just say "we don't know?", than this stupid shit.

At least that would make them appear unknowing but curious. The given answer makes the come across as retarded.

>>342722057

I think OPs point is that they should know better.

They can shove their heads as deep as they want in the sand, but no business should ever turn away a potential paying customer.
>>
>>342722424
Japan only cares about Japan. People in Japan don't care about PC.
>>
>>342722614

Corporations only care about money. Money is not exclusive to Japan.

Do you honestly think that the mid-age suits in a board room care more about silly platform wars than their retirement funds and legacies?
>>
>>342722614
Take a look at 2chan, they're starting to get interested on PC gaming and even FPSs.
Mainly because the PS4 is a piece of shit.
>>
>>342723424
There's always been PC discussion on 2chan because only neets use it.
>>
>>342704832
You have to understand that PC is not really a gaming market in Japan. PCs are for work and visual novel shit for them. Hell consoles are not even as popular as you would think because most Japanese are never home to enjoy them which is why handheld is so dominant over there. It's a society thing basically.

This.

There are so many "muh PC" fags and Sonyggers in hard denial ITT.

None of you two groups understand. You're not losing to each other, you're losing to this thing.
>>
PC = irrelevant.
>>
>>342705127
I have a controller. And I don't use it. I feel much more comfortable using KB+M.
>>
>>342726395

Many people do. But it's not unheard of have a Xbox controller for your PC.

And video game developers should know this.
>>
>>342724269
In denial?

I don't see how pointing out how retarded this dev is is somehow making anyone ITT in denial.

>implying I care I about mobile games

I am quite content with my niche PC gayums anon
>>
>Why does a zipper head working on a Japanese video game with a Japanese studio from a Japanese publisher for the Japanese audience that don't give a shit about PC not understand my needs?!

>DO THEY HAVE MONEY?! THEY MUST HAVE MONEY!!
>>
>>342727212

Sonyggers are always up in arms about PC and "NEVER EVER", and PCfats are always bitching about NOG4EMS. They don't realize that the real thread are cellphones.

Japs spend so much time traveling too and from work, that anything that can fill that time is much better for them than anything they can do at home.
>>
>>342727365

A corporation is solely about making money. It's not about appealing to some weird national-based audience, or sating console-warfags. It's about making money.

And in that light it's retarded to see so many Japs not acknowledge the place where the most money is made.
>>
>>342727687

They don't care.

It's as simple as that, Kotick. Do you own shares in Square Enix or something?
>>
>>342728176
>They don't care.

And that's the reason cellphones are the new gaming platforms.

Enjoy Breath of Fire 6.
>>
>>342728308
>And that's the reason cellphones are the new gaming platforms.

Cellphones are the new gaming platform because they generate an absurd amount of revenue.

You can keep crying about MUH PC SALES, but the zipper heads obviously tapped into a market far more valuable than any baka gaijin complains about.

I haven't played a Japanese game in forever, so guess what, I don't care either. I won't be enjoying BoF6
