They're really not though, they just arent hammered home like usual. And the whole point of big bosses plot is literally told through venom. Venom is everything big boss isn't, and that speaks volume in how angry kaz gets at every decision he makes.
If anything Kaz and the rest of diamond dogs are a representation of what big boss would be, angry, bitter and spiteful. MG2 clearly shows that.

I'm just basing my interpretation off of the fact that the cinematography in the cutscene takes the role of both big boss and venom's perspectives. and on top of that, venom is clearly very affected by everything that has happened and is happening to him. As we can see by the tapes in the game, even after waking up big boss is still very much himself. Venom barely talks, has the thousand yard stare, and is clearly fucked up in his head.
