3 is mediocre. 2 was a lot more actiony than 1 but 3 was basically a clumsy action game with a few puzzles and key hunts.
Plus the only really good addition was Nemesis (whos really just an expanded version of Mr. X when you get down to it. All the other additions were either poorly implemented like ammo crafting, or inconsequential like the choices you make.

Nope. Rev 1 felt like a wishy washy hybrid of "classic" and "action" RE. With weak combat, but no puzzles and almost no exploration. The reason for the storage system changes and the ultimate streamlining overhaul in RE6 were the fact that RE5 is co-op game where you can't just pause everything to poke around your inventory. They wanted to do co-op in RE series since the first one.
Still i don't see your problem. RE5 inventory was extremely responsive and easy to use menu with useful d-pad shortcut functionality, It also added additional depth to the gameplay: you could reload a gun in your inventory faster than the reload animation if you're good.
RE6 has more guns per character so it streamlines the inventory allowing for very fast and accurate weapon and grenade switching without resorting to inaccurate and slow shit like weapon selection wheels.

If you try this, make sure you pick up all the money you can, the more money you have the more ammo spawns and you need a lot of handgun ammo to kill Salazar.

Suplexes are great killing efficiency when paired with your TMP, and the hitstun from toeshots makes for prime run-by opportunities if you're just speeding through a level.

Suplex looks cool and all but it's worse than kicking. The kick is faster, has the AoE that knocks everyone in front down and it staggers enemies around you.
Suplexing takes longer and it staggers enemies around you. The animation takes about as much time as it does for enemies to recover, I have died many times due to suplexing in the middle of a crowd.
I wish they would've kept the back kick that you can use in village instead. It works like Wesker's punch and it just makes sense to have an AoE kick for forward range to compliment his normal kick which is a wide AoE.

Pulling out a TMP and holding down the fire button, they're crowded around me so I aim at their legs to drop them and run forward because trying to kick them would have me get hit from behind.
One of them gets on their knees, I'm using TMP so holding down the action button thus the suplex starts before I can even react. I'm stuck in a crowd for 2 seconds. Dead.
