People compare it to Mario Party because it has a similar feel to it (RNG, salt, etc) but there are no mini-games, instead there is a combat mechanic where you can fight people you bump into on the board. The goal of the game is to get enough stars or win enough battles basically.

They put no effort into balancing the game, honestly.
The biggest example of this are all 4 forms of Marc, who could casually oneshot 80% of the cast for only 4 SP with a scissors move (AKA, almost always goes first), while getting a stackable SP boost out of it AND being rather tanky.

The problem I had is that pretty much everything is a one-hit kill all the time. There's no point to things like buffs and whatnot since nothing will ever be alive for more than two rounds. Even worse is how scissors moves always go first so everything else sucks.

This isn't really a problem in level 30 matches, unless you're up against certain characters like Marc or Magical Tomomo.
Granted it's still 2/3 hits and most buffs are hot garbage to begin with, but the buffs and debuffs that do do something can change a match pretty drastically if they hit.
