I can answer the last only, and that's combining 2 tier 4 weapons into a soul stone, which you can bring to one of the many gates.
Many tier 5 soul weapons are hidden in spots that relate to the particular stone; I.E The rapids has a statue with mantis corpses around it. Bring a Mantis Soul by combining two tier 4 scythes in order to receive one of the soul scythes.

You can use it in the minister's archive. You need one precious key to open the area where you can use it, a character with high Weave skill to perform the ritual, and using the correct combination of crystals.
Hint: Both the main storyline and Seaside Tower area will provide you clues on which combination of crystals you gotta use.
Protip: Don't do the ritual unless sure of the crystals. If you fail, the adonis blows up and you gotta remake it.

What you can do is remove all premade characters in that folder, leaving only your custom made ones in there, then find and them.

I have seen people unable to beat the tutorial. Still no idea how the fuck that is possible, but that's a thing I guess. You just need a good party and some reasonable strategy. The AI in this game is pretty basic, they'll only attack anything that is closest to them, so you can typically bait enemies to rush to your tank, then get your ranged party away and attack from a safe distance while your tank just defends. Works best on a tank with one rank in warding so he heals every time he defends. Some recruited monsters turn the game more or less trivial, while an all-humanoid party might be a little more challenging.

Main character as a blast/weave wizard. Going in full weave until I get all the good perks, then switching back to blast. Maybe ward eventually.
Iron Golem tank. Best tank. Practically invincible. Guard/ward, heals when defending, still dishes out good damage despite no fight investment thanks to the overwhelming trait. Dipping into labour to deal with the challenges and for some health boost.
Ifreet with a pike and sapphire acc. Hides behind golem, anything he hits is debuffed with pain and nexus, taking more damage from physical and magic attacks. Few dips in hunting for extra crits, and one accidental dip in blast since Ifreet and Ashlords start with points in blast. Also has one rank in warding, also by accident, but he heals the golem when he goes into defend mode through daredevil so that's neat.
Harpy with a ranged weapon, mostly hunt/thwart. She always goes first and moves the farthest. Good for scouting. Also can speak with any creature, so good for recruiting too. Big crits, almost infinite reach, seems to sometimes get another turn even when fumbling, but maybe I'm just fucked and saw it wrong. Has a diamond acc and causes daze on hit.
Since the pic I have actually restarted and swapped out the Ifreet with an Ashlord. Difference is that Ashlords get a party-wide damage bonus rather than personal health bonus. Also got a new harpy who by coincidence has the same name as my old one, except this time nude. Same strategy. May eventually swap out the Ashlord with a Baelor if I find one, and get him that soul weapon whip that deals pain and nexus on hit for additional reach and an extra debuff acc.

You get like one free undead minion at the start if you're a guilty necromancer. Other undead monsters are probably not worth recruiting since they often have the fragile trait and will take more damage. You might be better off recruiting demons.
Alternatively, replace the sprites of party members you like with skeltals.

And yes, recruiting is chance based. You just need to find a good way to whittle them down to one heart and get yourself a party member who speaks undead. I think the reanimated guard can do that, but also hags, witches, harpies and a number of other monsters. It can be bothersome, but worth it. Recruited monsters are generally better than humanoid characters.
