Story ,setting and twists are awesome
Dod3 gameplay is stiffy and very repetitive tho, you have to love the setting theme to bear it

But in all seriousness it isn't that great of a game, combat isn't great, graphics poor, some really annoying parts you have to play through.
The dark humor is good, characters entertaining as well as dialogue, but I'm not sure that is enough to carry the game. If you liked Nier you will probably like this due to having a similar flavor to it, plus containing some neat story elements related to Nier. But still it isn't that great of a game.
But for 10 dollars it might be worth it.

The problem I had with Nier's magic system is that there's absolutely no reason to use any magic other than the basic pew pew laser, Dark Lance, and Hand

Not worth your money since they're just replaying levels you've already played, just with a new skin over Zero. You're better off just watching it on youtube.
They also give you extra backstory on each character, but you have to grind to level up each character to level 10 for it, which takes forever. Just look those up too.

Not many places. Check local FUCKING GAME and ebay, I picked mine up for around 30. I'd buy it now before the second game comes out and jacks up the price. Trust me it's worth much more than 10 dollars if you have the money to spare. But I'm sure you can find a copy floating around in local game stores.

The only DLC for Nier is basically just a few levels of waves of enemies to defeat. The only reason to get it is if you want Platinum, since it makes it easier to get rare materials.
