So guys, held off buying either of these until I upgraded my PC and waited for the Steam summer sales... The time has come, both are 50%, but I'm only buying one (current poorfag). Which one? The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4?

Witcher 3 likely wont disappoint you, Fallout 4 likely will, though with the new survival its pretty great. But nothing except an overhaul mod can make up for the shit writing and dialogue. The "Yes, Yes, Sarcastic Yes, No" is really not a meme, it is what 90% of dialogue is.

OP here. How does Fallout 4 compare with 3? Loved Fallout 3, never played the Witcher before though.
I guess gameplay is pretty similar between the two (quests and killing) but I'm thinking Fallout is pretty much the same as Fallout 3 so more of the same?
Also would I be missing out on anything story-wise having not played Witcher games before?

There's a quest early on to do some basic building in your first town, and later in the game you have to get some resources to build a teleporter to get to the Institute, but it's otherwise optional and seemingly only done for its own sake. Disease issues fall off later as you accrue wealth and can afford to buy/craft cures. Fast Travel is inconvenient but changes the game and makes it fresh.

Buy The Witcher 3. Its a really good game, the combat is kind of ass despite what you may have heard but its overall really fucking quality.
Fallout 4 is not quality, but I still ended up playing about 80 hours of it. Honestly, just wait until they release some GOTY edition that has a bunch of DLC at a cheaper price. You are far less likely to be dissapointed.

Seriously the witcher has better mechanics, lore, writing, quests, it looks 100x better, the gameplay isn't the best but it is still pretty good once you get rolling, you can love up on the babes, honestly it isn't even a question Witcher 3 blows Fallout 4 out of the water.
Fallout 4 probably has the worst writing I have ever experienced in a game. The plot points are bad, quests are dull, and the twist is so fucking stupid people have just fucked everything over at that moment out of rage. Games alright but as an RPG? It is absolute garbage. Play New Vegas, avoid 4.

If you fancy exploring an atmospheric as fuck yet depressing eastern european style medieval land then get The Witcher 3. It's the only one of the series I've played but I can't get enough. It's clear that there's been a lot of love put into the game and it really bloody shows. Fallout 4's not as bad as everyone here will tell you but The Witcher is on another level entirely.
