Steam sales have changed.
This sale feels so heartless. There's no fun to it. Even the shitty clicker game had some fun /v/ rooms. Playing on teams was fun. I remember playing Killing Floor and getting summer achievements, too. This sale has nothing - It doesn't even have amazing sales like there used to be. And there aren't any new video games worth buying either. It feels like everything now is just jaded and old and shit.
Yeah. Looked through the sales once, saw nothing I want and have no intention of looking again.
I don't care about that other shit because it was dumb. I would like better sales, but this is just hoe it is now I guess. Still decent sales for what I want though.

Pc gaming is pretty "stabilized" now, but a lot of games just didn't sell well on pc. Most companies don't even have that much faith in pc sales, which is why pc has so many badly done ports.
The steam sales convinced a bunch of people to buy/build gaming pc's for mainstream games.

old steam sales were fun as fuck. I remember one year you had to play games and get special achievements the devs each put in the game just for the sale, and you would get special tokens to buy prizes for other games. I had a sweet gold ship skin for beat hazard that I got from it.

For me its that any of the games I would buy aren't on a good enough of a sale to be worth buying and until they are I simply won't buy them. The reason why there aren't any more flash or daily deals is because of the refund system. Valve otherwise would end up with shitheads who couldn't wait until the last day with buying regular sales and then refund just to buy it again when it goes cheaper. No more dailies, no more fun activities either.

Well for me personally I owned most of the games that were on the list so it wasnt bad. Regardless it was something else to do in the sale. It wasnt anything I was looking forward in the weeks leading up, but it was something.

What other entertainment medium can you go and ask for a refund because you didn't like what you got when you purchased it? This was not done to protect the customer, if Valve was interested in protecting the customer, it would axe the greenlight section to stop the market flooding of games in alpha that go nowhere.
Also, it's publishers that make money from sales. The developers already get their paycheck when they make the game. They might be getting a bonus depending on how the game performs, but it's the publishers that make the money. That's the whole point of a publishing company.
