Sent a refund request then canceled already had 3 hours on it while trying to grasp the basics.
Like the god awful unnecessary micro building consumable bots and manually assigning them one by one every time you need to mine asteroid minerals.
You can't even tell how much power a single structure is consuming or generating when you click on it.
Its UI is a little clunky, but the game is by no means horrible. Just not as good as I was expecting it to be.
I can't see my control groups in the HUD, and there is no icon for visual feedback when garrisoning troops in a bunker. I wish strategic level zoom was added in as well.
For 10 or so odd dollars it doesn't seem that big a loss compared to AAA buyer's remorse. The dev seems fairly active with it so hopefully most of the glaring issues are addressed.

First you need to settle on a type of weapon to use. you really should settle on what you want during character creation, I would suggest two handed since it has the easiest to use.
make sure you start with pretty alright charisma (pick 'loss' as a motivation in order to start with a small boost to charisma) and level up leadership as much as you can.
Early on you need to go to villages and recruit as quickly as possible with your start up money, and as quick as possible start picking fights with raiders that you out number.
take one of each food you find (you general want to keep one of each type of food on you) and take anything worth more than 50 denars. go to market in a castle town(Big lettered castles)
rinse and repeat until your party is full or until you feel confident with your army.
then pick a color you dislike and start going to the villages of that color that is far away from a castle and start taking hostile action and taking all their stuff. (you may have to fight the farmers in a town, that will out number you 10 to one early game, just be patient and take them out one by one.) take everything of value, you'll start to get a feel of whats worth taking. Sell, do this for a while until you can burn down villages and steal cattle, then start driving cattle out towards castle towns, slaughter them right out side of town and sell the fresh meat.
Sooner or later, the color you dislike is going to start noticing you and may start sending small armies to get you. YOU CANNOT FIGHT THEM YET, DON'T TRY, you need to just run if you see them. when this starts happening you should be well off. check your journel to see who is at war with that color and go to that color and try to earn respect by meeting with dukes and knights in castles and castle towns. do missions quickly and concisely, and soon they will invite you to help them fight wars. Then the game gets hugely fun.

To preface, I havent played since early access, so some of my complaints may have been fixed. That said, I got this game thinking it was going to be Dwarf Fortress lite, but It was really shallow and boring as fuck. I had done everything there was to do after about 5 hours, and then you just sit there and watch your inmates walk around and occasionally stab each other or die in fires or whatever. Super shallow.
I knew it would be inspired from m&b but I didnt expect a literal clone in space

After being told that the new Doom played a lot like Painkiller, I bought this. I was expecting actual level design and exploration, rather than endless arenas. Not a bad game at all, just not what I was expecting, not gonna even bother trying to get a refund though.

Stellaris is boring, I dropped it after 8 hours, CK2 is great, I have over 200 hours. If you've never played a good space 4x game you might like Stellaris but it's pretty mediocre for someone like me who plays a lot of Distant Worlds. Distant Worlds, Sins of a solar empire, and star ruler 2 are all superior alternatives to stellaris. Ck2 on the other hand is incredibly unique and fun especially if you like to RP
