I just hate how Nvidia keeps shifting around their tiers and the labels for them. Like the xxx ti will be replaced by the xxx + 110 instead a xxx + 100 ti. So the x60 card could be mid range or low end depending on if there's an x60ti in between the x60 and the x70 card and stuff. I wish they would just stick to one naming scheme and just add 100 to the card names across the board every generation.

970 was replaced by 1070, 980 was replaced by 1080, 980Ti will be replaced by 1080Ti, Titan X will be replaced by ???. The same goes for 960 -> 1060 etc.
It's not a drawback that the new midrange core performs significantly better than the older high-end one.

As far as I know there aren't any SATA version of that drive.
Just get a 256/512 GB 850 Pro. Or if you want to save some MX200 or 850 Evo.
The difference between PCI-E M.2 and SATA SSD's is significant on paper, but you won't really find it any different in daily use, unless you shift around lots and lots of data all the time.

Yes, it also performs 50% better. I'm not saying that I'm happy about the price hike, but it could be expected - new process with lower yields, no competition from AMD in that performance bracket so far.

The 1070 offers slightly better price/performance, and is generally a better fit for 1440p. I just upgraded to a 1440p 144hz g sync monitor (Dell S2716DG for $500 on sale) and a 1070, and it's a perfect combo imo. I average around 100-120 fps in most games, and can easily hit 144 fps by lowering some settings.
Because I already have a GTX 980 Ti Hybrid and I don't need an upgrade any soon.

The Founders Edition will be sold throughout the lifespan of the card and the non reference models are already available, it's just they're all above $400 (cheapest one I know of is $410, and that has a blower style cooler) and out of stock because they sell out so fast.
