Lots of people enjoy Overwatch. It has memorable characters that interact well with the player. Battlefront manages to take away a lot of what made Battlefront II great, and doesn't allow you to relate with the characters at all.

Battlefront is a shallow piece of shit made for the sole purpose of gaining money off of Star wars' 7th movie hype. That had at best a year of development. DLC everywhere and none of it has or will make it any good. After this year battlefront will have no support.
It is a spit in the face of the original Battlefront games and is just a bastardized version of Battlefield.
Overwatch was years in development and still has years of updates ahead of it since Blizzard doesn't abandon their games for a absurd amount of time. They still work on Diablo 3 and WoW. HotS is doing shitty but they still work on it.
Overwatch may not be much now but it is will get more.

Here is the real thing. Battlefront was built on a legacy and squandered it by making a mediocre, homogenized, and boring Star Wars game, with no content and its only saving grace being the fact that it has the Star Wars license. When a game released over a decade ago has more content and interesting gameplay mechanics than a game released in 2015 you have a serious problem.

It's essentially another way of saying that the game feels like the dev team didn't give two shits how the game turned out. No care went into the game. The shooting is boring, the unlock system is boring, weapons feel like shit, there's a blatant disregard for balance, map design is careless, the Star Card system is a joke, the voice acting for Luke is hilariously garbage, the voice acting for Vader is mediocre, the spawning system is terrible, traits were thrown out with no care for use or balance, the DLC so far is a complete joke, they blatantly ignored content from the new trilogy AND prequel trilogy just to milk more sequels, air vehicles control like garbage, I could fucking go on and on about this game. In the end it's just a great example of a cash grab. It did it's job and now they'll move on to making Battlefront 2 while half-assing the season pass content and recycling all the shit they had in BF1 I bet.

Overwatch isnt the "Best competitive shooter of the decade" (See: CS:GO) but it is definitely leaps and bounds ahead of the literal biggest blunder of the decade. Battlefront is a sequel to a great game series that removed MOST of the features that made that series great. If it was really the first battlefront, as in Battlefront 1 and 2 never existed, it probably would not have been as poorly received as it was, as it is no worse than the latest Battlefields or CODs in generic FPS with "vehicles." Overwatch is new, insofar as its not part of a bigger series or universe, so expectations are more or less nill in what it can be. Overall its a downgrade from TF2, but its different enough from TF2 to not be considered a direct inspiration or competitor and as such is given the benifit of the doubt. Taking the same seniero as Battlefront, if Overwatch was somehow a genuine sequel to TF2 (as in published by valve and all), it would have been VERY poorly received for about 1000 reasons.
