Builders is getting help from Sony, 7 and 8 has funding help from Nintendo, and Heroes got help from Tecmo Koei.
Square has shown they don't mind funding localizations themselves but when they do it they put it on cellphones then point to sales during stockholder meeting and scream LOOK NO ONE BUYS IT.
Just looking at google store DQ1 cracked over 50k downloads for north america but it's easy to judge that the low price helped that because the other games are barely above the 10k mark and being sold at a higher price.
