it had hundreds more games in its library than gamecube, was far more powerful than either the ps2 or gamecube, sold several million more hardware and software units than gamecube and pushed controller design and online features forward whereas sony was content with rehashing the dualshock and nintendo just made a more comfortable n64 controller which was terrible at playing most multiplatform games at the time which called for 2 proper sticks to be played well.
the only thing the xbox lacked on was having the variety and breadth of the ps2 library.
