Orb of Harmony heals very quickly for how safe it is. You can use it from as far away as you can maintain visual contact. Mercy's heal has to be really close range, and shows a bright beam screaming "I'm right here, shoot me!" Mercy is just as fragile as Zenyatta with lower survivability, and because of how she works it's impossible to hide her. She's also shit for offense.

How are people this retarded as to allow Mercy to live at all? I understand people not killing Lucio since being the bastard offspring of Speedy Gonzales makes him borderline impossible to kill, but Mercy is slow as fuck and should always be the one thing to look out for.
Real talk, how would you fix Zenyatta? So far some random things I've thought of (each one is a separate idea):
-Give him some kind of visible shield like Zyra barriers on top of his current health, which would help him live longer, but make him a target more.
-Make his orbs not require LoS again, but just have a max range.
-Make it so when he dies, he remains behind for X number of seconds as some sort of ghost and can heal OR simply let him resurrect once per spawn cycle right where he dies.

It might suck to break it up even more, but they should really splinter 'healers' into its own category away from 'support'. Let 'support' be things like Zen and Symmetra, where they're more hybrid and supportive in ways other than just healing, and healers actually people who can fucking heal. It'd help out the team comp recommendations to help casual players form real teams with actual healers.
As to what to do for another healing class (since there are really only 2 viable ones at the moment), I'd say they were on the right path with Zen, but didn't quite do it right. Do someone with HoT's like Zen, but with a limited time regardless of LoS, but let the character heal like 3 people at once. Kinda like resto druid healing in WoW, but pulled back a lot. Make it reward attentiveness and make the heal amount somewhere between Lucio and Mercy to balance things out.

I like all of those. I don't know if it'd be too complex to work in a game like Overwatch, but some kind of evil-aligned aggressive healer that leeches health off enemy heroes and supplies it to teammates could be an interesting concept. Like their gun stores charges of their heal ability based on damage dealt. Their ult could be somewhat similar to Zenyatta's, healing allies in an AoE while damaging or debuffing enemies.
Zenny has fundamental flaws. His orb mechanics means that he flourishes in wide open spaces with long LoS so that he doesn't have to be close to a target to heal/harm them. Unfortunately, this is also where Widow thrives and up until the nerf she was a perfect counter for him. It's better now but that still doesn't excuse the fact that his ult only works when the teammate is within a radius of him meaning he has to step into his discomfort zone to pop ult.
