are you going to buy it?

>game looks entirely the same except for Districts and Wonders take up a tile
>also there are some new ways to do govt policies

That's it, no other changes. Why are people gobbling this shit up?
>>
This game looks fantastic, can't wait.
>>
But why the Ps2 graphics?
>>
looks like an android game
>>
>>342517961
Civ 5 was bad. This is just going to be worse.
>>
>>342518217
You don't even remember what PS2 graphics looked like anymore, cunt.

Because pull up literally any game and compare, and you'll see how horrible PS2 graphics were, and how badly you're misremembering them.

The gameplay looks like an actually decent step upward from Civ V.

The Artstyle is mobile gaming tier garbage though ,and really soils the rest of it.
>>
>>342518732
What improvement in gameplay, I saw none in that newly released demo. Districts/Wonders taking up a slot only means you have to focus on expansion a bit more, how is that an improvement on gameplay? It's a restriction if anything.
>>
I recently got into CIV V when I got it during the Winter Sale. I've put about 50 hours into it, and I can't believe I've never played a genre like this before.

I'm gonna squeeze as many hours out of CIV V as I can, but I'm absolutely keeping an eye on 6. It's one of the only games I'm excited for this year. I picked a great time to get into the series.

I'll probably keep playing V until I see the reception to 6 and see if they iron out any bugs/patch improvements.

I think seeing the wonders actually being built is neat as hell.
>>
>>342518217
They want to appeal to the class of clans crowd

I almost expect this game to be freemium

I hope you got all the expansions for 5 because it makes the game like 10x better

Vanilla civ 5 is pretty shit, 5 + expansions is the best in the series
>>
it looks like a mobile game

and I'm willing to bet that they are preparing to implement some kind of new payment model that has to do with mobile. maybe an app, maybe a full-on ipad port with downscaled graphics. civ V already featured touch input.

civ V was and still is a commercial success, so naturally they will now be looking for every possible way to milk the cow dry. net excited by it, and I sunk nearly 1000 hours into civ V with mods.
>>
Once 7 comes out, I'll buy 6 and DLC for sale.
Once 6 comes out, I'll buy 5 and DLC for sale.
Currently enjoying 4.

Was on board until the graphic design. Game reminds of the change between RA2 and RA3. I understand a lot of people like the toy aesthetic, but I'm really more used to cities looking like cities instead of models.

Any news about the leaders?
>>
>>342519250
I did, I got the full bundle. Reading back on what was in the base game seems incredibly bareboned.

When I started my first game, many of the mechanics that were core were included in the expansions. Can't imagine playing without them.
>>
>>342519381
5 and the dlc is already on sale, but that's pretty much my strategy, otherwise you're just buying expensive incomplete games.
>>
1UPT killed the game.
>>
>>342519381
I don't understand. 5 has been on sale many times. I got all dlc and expansions for like $20 on steam.
>>
>>342519595
First time I played V I was very disappointed. The UI felt like mobile shit and the game seemed casualized as fuck. Nowadays it feels alright to play it.
>>
>>342518849
Like I said, it's only a step. So far they seem to have basically smoothed most of the rough edges from V.
>>
>>342519751
Stacks of doom were retarded though.
>>
nah, still haven't tapped out Civ 5 since I was late to PC gaymen. 40 something leaders takes a long ass time to get bored of

Anyone else want the combat in Civ games too be more involved? Like maybe have the battlefield turn into an RTS every skirmish. I think that would make Civ a way better game.
>>
The graphics look like they're inspired by games like Clash of Clans, so I think I'll pass.
>>
>>342520054
Isn't that what Total War is like?
>>
>>342519751

literally Total War
>>
>>342520080
The cartography effect for fog of war is pretty good senpai desu.

there's an entire game series like that
give it a try

Ima wait for a discount for it
>>
>>342519751
AI not being able to deal with 1UPT was what robbed the game of its potential
at its core 1UPT is a significant upgrade over the previous system
while I agree further improvement is necessary (my personal favorite solution would be a functional attrition system as a means to limit stacksize) a proper AI would be more than sufficient to alleviate all concerns with it

Just because vanilla civ V was in many ways a downgrade from 4 doesn't mean current civ V is not a damn fine game, for gods sake I've seen people even try to go against the hex system
>>
Looks like a P2W cell phone game for retards.
>>
>>342519190
That's probably the plan. The new "phase 2" of gaming jewry.

First, it was designing traditionally-PC games for the consoles, like how Diablo 3 and other games are.

The next phase is to design traditionally-PC (even console) games for the mobile. Games that could be played by movement keys and 1 gamepad button/1 mouse button/1 keystroke. In other words, they're going to design games for the least common (and more cost-effective and profitable) denominator: mobile. Like a race to the bottom.

You're gonna wish they stopped at the "designing for consoles" degeneracy, as playing a game designed for mobile on a PC is going to be complete and utter shit. It won't be as bad to play a mobile game on consoles, but it's still gonna be shit.

Dark times are ahead, unless a gaming crash happens again and weeds out these Juden-esque publishers/developers.
>>
>>342520741
Dude. They're already doing it. Some MMO that I forgot the name of, but some Ultima Online clone where you build houses and whatnot, is literally designed for a cell phone (even though it's coming out for the PC, I guess it's multiplatform or whatever) user interface, I remember reading posts from people complaining about how you can't even map the right mouse button because the entire UI was just move the pointer and click.
>>
>>342520741
I can't see how you could properly play a game like Civ on a mobile platform
the sheer amount of processing power required would melt mobile hardware regardless of graphics
its like people asking for a mobile version of dwarf fortress or thinking they could play AAA games on the Ouya
>>
>>342521119
Disregarding processing power, which I agree with you on, it's totally possible.

In CIV you never need to click or move more than one thing at a time. You could swipe the screen to move around the map, select units with a touch, and the different diplomatic, research and production choices could easily be done on mobile.

Which is why they're probably doing it. God Mobile is a cancer to the industry.
>>
>>342522304
fully aware of that I was just thinking about the processing power aspect which is why I mentioned dwarf fortress a game who's entire hardware requirements are in the form of gameplay related calculations

if there is a mobile version of Civ VI it will have heavily simplified gameplay even if it uses the same UI because if they try to make the game fully multiplatform it'll end up having less features than civ 2 and literally nobody would buy it on pc because even gaming press would swarm on it like rabid dogs
>>
>>342519381
Shouldn't you be playing 5, since Beyond Earth came out?
>>
>>342521119
>the sheer amount of processing power required
For what, a turn based game? Are you serious?
>>
>>342522825
Don't pretend Beyond Earth even exists.
That's rude.
>>
So basically the consensus is that it will play like a mobile game...
>skip
>>
>>342522975
I don't know. I have a pretty beefy computer with an SSD, and in the late game it takes a bit for my computer to calculate all the moves and units across the map. You can feel it slow down and get sluggish as the game goes on.

And I only usually play with 8 Civs and 16 city-states.

I don't know if that's engine dependent or straight number of units that the computer has to handle, but mid-late game can get taxing. I'm not sure phones could handle it well.
>>
all the civs are exactly the same with some changes

eat a dick you dumb faggot

also it looks great, maybe the first civ you won't have to play entirely in 2d map mode.
>>
>>342517961
Is looks like shit and Beyond Earth played like shit. I expect little
>>
>>342522975

you're a dumb nigger child and should never talk about technical stuff as if you have a clue ever again
>>
>>342522975
TBS games require a shit ton of computation per turn anon. And most TBS AI is still shit.

>>

>exactly the same
>with some changes
>>
>>342517961

>That's it, no other changes. Why are people gobbling this shit up?

You're the same fucking retarded spouting this bullshit since the last thread.

The game has:

- Every feature from Civ V sans World Congress, including minute shit like archeology
- Science bonuses for specific tasks
- New barbarians that scout first, send a horde later
- Revamped Diplomacy
- Revamped Civics systems with a dynamic card system
- Has a new entire tech tree for social policies that uses culture instead of science
- Changed combat to allow semi stacks
- FUCKING DISTRICTS
- Returns to Local Happiness
- Science victory changed
- AI Civ agendas and hidden agendas
- Wonders have environmental requirements and take/effect tiles
- More shit I'm forgetting

At least complain about the art style, that's what the bandwagoners are doing.
>>
>>342523757
They don't. It's only because they don't do proper AI because COMPUTERS WILL HANDLE IT LOL AND EVERYONE CAN WAIT HALF AN HOUR FOR THE TURN ANYWAY.

Do you think AI really got that much more "complex" than in games that you could run on a 486 with turns being over in a second? And your cell phone can literally emulate dozens of 486s at the same time.
>>
>>342524552
I know you're not a developer, but do you know why they removed World Congress? Is there still a Diplomatic Victory option?

And do you know how the science victory has changed?
>>
>>342524552
>Changed combat to allow semi stacks
I really hope this means there'll be an attrition system
Being able to send a doomstack through a dozen desert tiles with no ill effect bothers me
>>
>>342523282
>play like
Not at all. It looks like it'll play like Civ V with minor changes, the art style however is cartoony and more reminiscent of mobile games.
>>
>>342521119
Civ Rev was available on the iphone 4
>>
>>34251919
Notwithstanding the stupidity of having Cleopatra being the leader of Egypt and dressing her up in entirely ahistorical costume when, if Firaxis really wanted a female leader for Egypt, they could have just gone with Hatshepsut whom was already in IV anyway-

Notwithstanding all of that, the leader animations look really exaggerated and janky
>>
>>342517961

>game looks entirely the same except for Districts and Wonders take up a tile
And dozens of other changes. The entire way you build cities is being changed. Which in turn is changing all the other core aspects of the game. Wonders can only be built on certain types of tiles, culture and science grows based on proximity to different types of tiles, roads and developed by caravans and not workers, entirely new art style, fog of war, etc.

But sure, its just a modded Civ V.
>>
>>342527114
I was pleased with Egypt's representation in V, shame they're fucking it up again

Yes, yes, anon. We all know Civilization series puts historical accuracy at utmost importance and choose leaders of respective nations based on their merits and achievements and not the meme value. Which is why our finest minds at Firaxis have chosen Gandhi to be the leader of India.
>>
>>342518217
well, maybe because is a console market game now
>>
>>342527940
well Gandhi is civ meme as a while, if not for that he'd have been replaced a long time ago
and there have been quite a few non meme leaders along the way like actually picking Augustus instead of Julius for the Romans unlike many other series
>>
>>342520231
this
>>
The solution is clear. Just have 2-3 different leader choices per civ. With at least one male and one female for both.
>>
>>342517961
I only care about:
>ai improvements
>bigger depth of complexity
>how hot the waifus look

And it looks like they are delivering all that, so i am more than happy op, you faggot.
>>
>>342520054

My biggest complaint so far is the unit's manpower count in 6. Infantry and archer units in 5 had like 14-15 men while in 6 they only have 4. Horses got downgraded from like 6 to 2 and tanks and artillery are now down to just 1 in a squad. It really ruins the scale of the game in my opinion when I'm supposed to be this big strong empire and I can only field an army of like 20 dudes.
