No, the game was Piratable, but if you have ever seen the Pal version and the US version, some files were encrypted. Why do you think PAL only hacks existed and certain US hacks wouldn't work for PAL?

actually, that's because the memory addresses somehow changed per region, which led to the obvious problems with using gecko codes on the wrong addresses. Nothing about encrypted files anywhere too, since BrawlBox opens them all no problem.

Nah, there was some encryption on PAL's files. It's one of the reason why file sizes differed despite having the same content inside, but more restrictions.
