And they tried twice, three times if you remember how FFXIV was just a copy pasted piece of shit when it first came out, they failed miserably on all three.
Just accept it, and deal with it, this is coming from someone who hasn't played FFXIV or WoW because MMOs are literal trash, even worse than actual FF games are and that says a lot because they are like single player MMOs but easier.

Fuck no, at least you can take walking in circles doing nothing in WoW lightly because it's such an outdated piece of garbage, this game was remade for 2014 and it's still one of the most stale, grindtastic, bland pieces of rotation-based numbshit I've wasted my money on, and even then I stiill managed to power-push through all the garbage all the fucking way to Idyllshire only for its garbage storyline to STILL be single-player.

It is because it was in FFXI. Except FFXI actually did progression fucking correctly. And even then you could skip most of its DLC.
