The worst part is, it doesn't matter if it is the Arland nor Dusk series. Modern day Atelier is awful. That said, Sophie is the only game I do not own. Once you learn how the alchemist system works, it makes the other games quite easy.
I love Ateliers, they are awesome and comfortable games.

Also, the framerate on the 360 version is complete trash.
I was playing with no armor (NAKED) just so the framerate would run smoothly.
The full armor you get at the start of the game made the game run at 10fps, I'm not even exaggerating.

I decided that the game sucked because there's very little to it. You just try to have a 100% rate of popularity through fetch quests while the story put the emphasis on the assignments you are given. The exploration/monsters and actual combat stinks as you get there only for materials. There's no cool shit besides optional bosses that also suck ass.
Like I said, the good stuff is in the endings, the rest is absolutely tedious for nothing. Good optional quests with a minimum of scenario would have been enough, a stronger exploration part would have pleased me. But even if you're dellusional, the game is just mediocre. It is not even a 6/10 honestly.
I can grind endlessly in MH or Disgaea because it is fun. But grinding components through weak gameplay mechanics sucks.
