Not him but it's a pretty cheap way of making you look like "the monster" instead of the things that were literally trying to fucking kill you the entire game.
Honestly, the most memorable games to've made me cry areSonic BattleandNaruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst.
Shit be prolific.
>>342458090
Yea, desu it's like how people think the "it's all your fault" thing in Spec Ops is a good twist when the game literally doesn't give you a choice.
Those twists work in movies and books, where the player isn't in control, but trying to make the player feel bad for something you force them to do is silly.

I'm probably autistic but I cry from excitement of my personal hyped video games when I play them. Last game I cried many tears at was Dark Souls 3, seeing Anor Londo again hit me like a train.
i find that the stories in games lack depth and they are only there to justify the setting and gameplay
Final fantasy 7 of curs
Only that one, and it wasn't that bit.
It was the bit in NG+ with the wolves. Holy fuck the Masked People can go kill themselves, lad.
Also nearly in Lost Odyssey when his daughter died which was actually a lot more penetrating than you'd think for a scene like that.

The chapter/act in MGS4 when you revisit Shadow Moses almost made me cry, all those childhood memories
Often. Because I'm addicted and waste my life and let everyone down and fail my career every time I try and always go to video games for every type of outlet and relaxation. It doesn't hurt I'm just sad. Just sad. I have nothing because games sell me a way to use all of my time, so I give it my time, a lot of time if it wants to take it and gives me something to "do", maybe a little one year, maybe a lot the next but it's always too much and I always fail.
That's why I cry because of games.

It's like the entirety of this game was made purely to send you into a deep depression with no redeemable qualities and then they make an extra comic to crush that last bit of hope you have left with the ending.
I cried watching trailer park boys so I think it'd be easy for me to cry at a bunch of shit but the sad thing is I've only cried while playing season one of Telltale's walking dead.

I've always been interested in this game. Can you explain why it's so sad?

>tfw this happens
>>342484070
Basically your character is one of the, like... 20 people left in the whole world, after an experiment to link all consciousness of humankind failed and everyone went to sleep (and died if they did).
Because he has a particular item he has been exposed to, he can hear the memories of old people that inhabited the land by finding mementos they left behind.
The game starts with his father figure, an old man he had been living with, having passed away just moments ago. As he's burying him in the backyard, he sets out to find other people - all the while reading the stories of what people did as they started to realize the moment they went to sleep they would die, their last moments, their chats with one another, etc. - he sees a girl at one point, and begins to follow her, as she's literally the only other person he has ever met beyond the old man.
The game is short, has excellent atmosphere and lovely artwork, with the main character narrating certain bits in a sad and melancholic tone.
>>342459318
I don't get why people on /v/ always act like Brad is a heroic super dad and that Buddy is just an "ungrateful" edgelord. Feels like missing the point. I do agree with you 100% though. LISA was pretty much the only game last year I actually cared about
>>342483810
This and MGS4's ending (prior to epilogue which made me super happy but also sad) were the two that made me cry.
I mean jesus christ.
Snake puts a gun in his mouth and we silently listen to him choke on the barrel before panning away to a gunshot.
The first video game character in the game that got me into gaming had just, I thought, blown his brains out.
That was awful.

>>342484732

>>342485783
It is. I'd recommend it to anyone that asked - the game is not some 100 hours AA roleplay adventure business.
It's 15-17 hours long, for the sake of the setup and its story, and the gameplay was still very fun to me even if some people might dislike its initial clunkyness fighting wise.
Not to be played when emotionally fragile though, it really has capabilities to send someone down a depression route.
>I have already lived for far too long

Because people who like Nier don't like it for its gameplay, they like it for the mediocre story, this is what pisses me off.
Of course Platinum will fix the gameplay, but then the game will appeal to completely different kinds of people, people I can actually respect.
And so the conclusion is that Platinum could be working on a game with way better narrative and identity than Nier at this moment, basically it's wasted ressources on a boring universe that weebs love because "omg I waz the demons all along!!!! So deep so smart twist I never read a book in my life before!!!"

The morphine drip part made me tear up, only time a game has ever made me tear up.
>>342496119Yeah, seeing chuck as a psycho was pretty harsh.
The end of Crisis Core made me cry like a little bitch.

When Shinji died in P3 I cried like a bitch for 10 minutes during the funeral scene with Akihiko

>too soon
The ending on the other hand...

>Should i even bother talking about the gameplay too? After all that's supposed to be the reason why you play video games.
Anon oh you

Kill your fucking self. I don't think Nier is a bad game but SotC managed to make me emotionally involved like no other games before. You have to be blind to not see how great the gameplay/presentation/atmosphere is and you probably have very very shit tastes if you think that it's a worse game than Nier in any way.

>meadowlands vibrant with flowers

Leaving with Kenny was such a powerful scene. Too bad everything leading up to that point was terribly written. Fuck Jane
>>342497840
Children dying and funeral scenes will always get to me. Shinji's funeral was kind of uplifting though.
>>342497686
Yeah, that sequence is pretty fucked up, make me choose Chloe ending everytime after that.
>>342494440
I was kinda hoping he'd just keep her until finding new batteries someday really...
>>342497840
God Shinji dying made me hate Ken for the rest of the game.
I hate sad bits in video games. I've seen too much pain.
>>342498064
Anon please stop, SotC has an interesting gameplay, that is, the rest is pretentious garbage.
>>342498064
Yeah, nah. There's no emotional involvement in Shadow of the Colossus. It's just a very well presented boss rush scenario, the rest is generally bland and uninteresting, with unimportant characterization and a hilariously random ending.
>>342498527
What about the graphics, music and world design?
>>342475664
I can't enjoy a game with a fanbase like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrPZpVGLoC0we need extermination now
>>342498309
I hated LiS
I hated Chol
I hated Warren
I found Max bland
Kate was alright
The last decision was stupid and I saved the town
Saw that the town gets fucked if you saved Chol and went back to save the town again.
It went to The Walking Dead Season 2 levels of bad writing

I cannot remember the last time a game make me feel so much real emotion playing it. That whole scene man. P3 did a fucking fantastic job of storytelling. The only other time I ever cried like that was the end of MGS3.
One day, I'll get drunk enough to just power through the first four or five mind-numbing hours of Nier, where it's just an unwieldy, tedious, generic action RPG, to get to the good parts everyone seems to talk about.
>>342498713
>And then P4 is Scooby Doo
I hope P5 has some emotional weight. More than P4 at least
>>342498684
>caring about the fanbase of a single player gameIt's still a shame though.
>>342498652
Nothing to write home about, you want a god OST? Grab Nier's one.
