It sounds like the game isn't going to be your typical Warriors game, with more emphasis on boss battles and they are trying to stay as close to the story as possible.
They are trying to get the equivalent of a Mature 17+ rating which is kind of disheartening. There's a chance this may be altered for the NA release though as such game have in the past.

Generally those bullshots aren't representitive of the games.
Not in terms of the graphical fidelity, but most of the early screens of Musou games have a HUGE depth of field effect added, and are really close to the player character, and usually at an angle.
It makes the image look more dynamic I guess.
Expect the levels to look like shit and the generic mooks to look mediocre and everything else to look fine.

Griffith looking like a woman (to the point women are both jealous and attracted) serves his character. Granted it has roots in Japanese culture where there's less overall stigma over that sort of thing. But it works in the sense that Griffith is both a powerful masculine leader AND attractive to everyone around him in a vulnerable way. The juxtaposition speaks to how unique he is.

They'll be playable in Free Battle and whatever variation on Chronicles Mode or whatever they put in aside from the main story. They just won't be selectable in story stages anymore.

The story will probably let you choose between Guts, Casca, or Griffin during the golden age stuff. It might lock you into Guts or something a few times. After Eclipse it will probably let you choose between Guts, Schierke, and some others. Just because there's extra characters doesn't mean you actually get to play them during the story mode, there's extra modes for all that.

It'll be the same as the Zelda game. You are assigned a choice between a few characters before completing the mission, and then after you can play as whoever you want.
