She's designed to run second banana to a main tank. She does a lot when paired with a Reinhardt or a Roadhog. But, by herself she lacks a lot of basic necessities. No real cc outside of her ult, her barrier provides little coverage for group pushes and her damage is quite low and takes time to ramp up.
In all honesty, running two roadhog is probably a much more viable strategy.
I was disappointed by how much I didn't like playing Zarya. The only tank I find visually appealing (and I wanna fug her in general) but I didn't like her playstyle at all.

Zarya + Hog can really cover a lot of Hog's bases, his health bool is boosted significantly by the shields and it can get him out of a lot of tough situations he'd otherwise be helpless in.
Zarya+ Rein isn't AS good since most of the time he's just gonna be behind the shield but when he decides to make a move it can work out really well.

Zarya isn't the best tank, that's reinhardt, but she is the best commander. A good zarya needs to take control of her entire team and keep an eye on absolutely everyone.
