Vagrant Story and FFIX
I remember playing both as a kid but holy hell are they fucking broken.
Vagrant Story is mechanically one of the worst games I've ever played with atrocious load times, bad rhythm gamed serving as combat and more time spent in the menus than actually playing.
FFIX has the least character building options out of Final Fantasies I've played and somehow the load times are even worse than in Vagrant Story. At least minigames are fun and the story is decent but the game is a chore to play.

I don't know what anyone sees in any Bethesda game. They're all piles of crude junk. Everything about them screams bargain bin shovelware to me.
The graphics (especially animations) are embarassing, they hire like 5 voice actors per game, their plots are nothing to write home about, memorable characters are basically non-existant and the gameplay is shallow. Plus, the games are bugged to shit at release.

I haven't played it in fucking years (well, since it was released on the GBA) but I remember enjoying it a lot back then.
Link's Awakening is pretty amazing though, and I'm halfway into Oracle of Ages and I've been digging it. 3D Zelda's are definitely the more overrated games, but that's generally because they're more accessible and easier to play.

The thing is about remakes is they're never going to remake the games that could actually use a remake. The most famous and more successful remake of all time is probably that Resident Evil remake and with good reason, RE1 was trash. RE2 improved upon it greatly and by comparison RE1 is a fucking joke. A high budget remake addressed and improved just about everything wrong with that first game.
Xenogears is a deeply flawed game but super ambitious game with terrible gameplay and story progression but it had a lot of cool ideas and visuals. You could do Xenogears better today. The entire second half turns into a VN even if you get everything else wrong if you just finish it you could do Xenogears better.
The problem is, they'll never remake Xenogears. That's not even on the radar because it wasn't a smash hit.
The stuff that gets remakes are the smash hits, the genre defining games that influenced games for an entire decade. The game that made millions and executed everything perfectly. Those are the games that get remakes and in the end they turn out worse than the original because the original never needed a remake.
