I will end you if you don't stop slandering Inafune's name.
Mn9 is a total disaster and will go down in history as the worst Kickstarter scam of all time. He has said plenty of awful things and yet the one thing you want to stick with is one he didn't actually say?

Man, not even close.

Most disappointing, probably, but "Mega Man X4 but worse" is actually on par for Kickstarter titles.
>>
>>342356613
Yeah why not?

Inafune's scam ruined Kickstarter for everyone; the one thing that will stick with people is the one super ultra mega scam that undermines all the sincere projects on there. It's delicious irony.

Don't you understand it yet?! Us Mega Man fans have nothing left. Let it all fucking burn. Fuck everything. There is nothing left for us, so we're going to take everything you people enjoy and ruin that, too.

There are technically worse and far more disgraceful video game Kickstarters than MN9, like Project Phoenix, the thing is that this was so heavily attached to the Mega Man name and legacy that it'll go down in history as a huge legendary blunder on that alone.

A chinese team can develop a better game for $25 a month and still release it in less than six months. Unless chinese are half-leprechauns, you don't need magic for that.
Hackfune burned most of the money from kickstarter (and whatever he got from the two publishers he tricked) on AIDS-powered hookers and crack, the westaboo dream.

>Mn9 is a total disaster and will go down in history as the worst Kickstarter scam of all time
And that isn't even his biggest scam.
Mn9 is basically KoP with robots (~4 million burger coins, multimedia franchise with toys and cartoon, already had plans for a sequel, delayed more than once). At least Mn9 was released, Inafune just wasted the publisher's money to "develop" KoP and nothing happened after that.
>>
>>342358250
Like, seriously. The quality is so dire by comparison to...ANY Mega Man game at the time they were made. Mega Man X is stylistically god-tier, channeling 90's EXTREME with 16-bit sprite art inspired by 90's cyberpunk anime. Mega Man classic worked with what it had and delivered a simple UI with clear characters, enemies and terrain. The other games follow suit with very little quality dips besides minor translation errors.

This thing is just desperate all over; Inafune is, for some inexplicable reason, convinced he is a god-tier character designer and so all he did was very harshly oversee the character design development and literally nothing else. Seriously if you were a backer, for month and months all the updates were about "hey guess what look at this character development!"

Now characters ARE very important, and characters DO move units as seen with games like Smash and Persona. But this game is not the same. You can't even play as the Mighty Numbers; you can only be Beck, Call (for one level) and Ray (as DLC). None of the characters are as endearing as the Shovel Knight Order of No Quarter and most of those guys have three lines of fucking dialogue.

In a way it's almost like they made the game as if the audience knows all the characters from the TV show, ala Sonic Boom. It's just...ridiculous.
>>
>you have to remember, kickstarter only gives 60 percent of what is raised, so it's not like we really raised 4 million dollars

A better game? Sure, but that game wouldn't be an action platformer, it wouldn't have graphics as good (not saying that MN9 is good, but for $25 dollars a month your chinese team can't afford MSPaint), and it wouldn't be release on 10 platforms simultaneously.

I'm not holding MN9 to be some fantastic game, but regardless of how good or bad it is, you couldn't possibly has produced it on a smaller budget.

People may struggle all they like, but the outcome will not change. Surely even you understand this. Hope and possibility are nothing but fleeting dreams glimpsed at the doorstep of this nothingness. Illusions that offer no comfort. Heat... Warm light... Gather up as much of this as you like, it will change nothing. Yes. Nothing at all!

I want to agree with you but fuuuuck mn9 is not good.

I never trusted Timmy to deliver because he's always been shit and his last good game came out some 20 years ago, and I'm not even convinced he had anything to do with it.

Inafune to so many people was the mega man guy, now we realize he had a ghost writer and much like Tim had little if anything to do with the success of "his" franchise
>>
>>342359920
I disagree. MN9's presentation is very poor, especially for its budget, and that's my point. Mega Man X4 may not have been a very good game but it had design consistency out the ass; the music, art assets, special effects and the fact that it had FULLY ANIMATED CARTOON SEQUENCES blows Mighty No. 9, whose cutscenes consist of still images and cheaply-made 3D chibi in-game models, out of the water. Similar arguments can be made for the other three you mentioned; they at least put enough effort in to make fully animated scenes (which are expensive to make, if you're an idiot and don't realize that). MN9 is fine in terms of gameplay, but only that. Just fine. Gameplay that is "just fine" needs visual flair to make it exciting, which it just isn't, and doesn't have.

Yeah. Totally. Agreed.

To make a PS1 Mega Man-tier game does not, and should not, require 4 million dollars, 3 years development time and a release on eight-generation consoles. In the same way that 2000s kids could make Final Fantasy VI-tier games in RPG Maker for free, anyone, you or I even, could make a PS1-tier game today, for free if we know where to find the tools.

1.) You couldn't produce Duludubi Star on $25 a month.
2.) Duludubi Star wasn't released on 10 systems at once.
3.) Duludubi Star isn't nearly as good a game as MN9.

I don't know if I actually believe that, though, for a few reasons.

For one, despite the fact that RPG Maker theoretically enabled 2000s kids to make Final Fantasy VI-tier games, no such games were ever made. Rather, a million such projects were started, but the only RPG Maker games that have ever been completed were those that were significantly less ambitious.

Consider MMX Corruption, the fan game that's probably the closest thing to a PS1-tier fan game. It's been in production since 2009. It's creators are devoting a significant amount of their time producing it, to the point where even though they're working on it "for free," it's still costing them time and money that they could be spending elsewhere. And while their game might have a strong aesthetic, it still doesn't look as good as the actual PS1 era Mega Man games were.

Nah, I just played all three games.

>everythign else, from characters, to stage and to fucking gameplay is far, FAR worse than 6 or 8, stop tryign to act like a contrarian nigger to fit in because it only makes you be unbelievable retarded
Characters are kind of subjective, but I can't personally say that I prefer Blaze Heatnix to Pyrogen, or MM8's loonie tunes Dr. Light to MN9's Saturday morning cartoon-esque Dr. Sanda. They're all kind of on the same level.

As for stage design, I can't honestly say that MN9 is worse, let alone "far, FAR worse." Remember the Jet Bike levels in X4 and X5, or the "Jump Jump Slide Slide" bullshit in MM8? How about the killer donuts in X6, or the nightmare viruses that were littered across that game? MN9 has some bullshit, but aside from some asshole spikes, nothing is really that bad, comparatively.

Gameplay is kind of the same. MN9, for all it's faults, actually does control quite well--as well as Mega Man, X, or Zero ever had.

>Seriously, trying to say this game that barely coherent is better than actually competent made games just because you don't like them is fucking insane
I love the PS1 era Mega Man games, but those games did have some significant issues--issues that later games, such as the Zero and ZX series, largely didn't have.

Likewise, I am disappointed in MN9. It is disheartening to see it have the same problems that later Mega Man games (Zero and ZX, especially) largely conquered.

It's a damn shame that it's only about as good as the PS1 games.
But, still, it is about as good as the PS1 games.

He was actually the main planner for at least part of megaman 3's development, and he was the advisor to the new project lead in 5.

all things considered, making the originals was sort of a team effort where everyone tossed in their input, so he definitely participated in some gameplay aspects.

but it goes back to him just having more managerial expertise than anything.

Wasn't that the OUYA?.
>>
>>342384142
>why is he hyped up so much?
>why people gave so much money to him?

It's the long held belief that Inafune created Mega Man or directed the games. Almost all stories abotu MN9 identified him as "series creator". Then people just cite each other.

>He was actually the main planner for at least part of megaman 3's development,

3's development is a total mess. Kitamura left. Planner left. Who knows what Inafune actually did or didn't do.

>so he definitely participated in some gameplay aspects.

He really doesn't. Did you see his Mario level? It's something a kid would make. No understanding of enemy placement.

It beats out a majority of classic Mega Man games by a mile. (I used to speedrun 2 classic Mega Man games that are much worse than MN9) I understand the frustrations this whole campaign has shit out but when I was playing this, I didn't even think about it once. I was having a legitimately good time.
>>
>>342385286
That's exactly the problem. The game is just "okay" which is usually fine.

But people, excited fans, devoted 4m to this game over three years.

"Okay" is not acceptable here. If this game simply came out of the blue and wasn't a giant kickstarter project, everyone would simply shrug the game off at worst. But that isn't the case.
>>
The game relies too much on the dash.

Since you can dash through the stages, there's almost no need to make difficult jumps and they end up feeling like hallways.

Bosses health refilling is stupid, since there are times when you are in a bad place to dash into them or you just can't get to them (MN2 floating around is an example).

There are some places where the enemies are placed so you dash through them, however since your shots don't pierce unless you have the strength powerup, you'll end up hitting the other enemies.

Beck is too slow while walking, it's hard not to breeze through the stage dash in the air avoiding the enemies instead of actually playing.

On an unrelated note, I think this game is too easy for so many random pick ups health pick ups.
>>
>>342382270
Literally all she needs to do is some proper linework.

Her colouring style is blending which doesn't match her proportional style.
Her design is more pop or stylised, yet she goes for realism colours.

Shame because she can be good. but a simple touch would drastically improve her art.

Bloodstained also appears to be allowing backers to steer design. Bad kickstarters are the ones that look at kickstarter donations as preorders

People assuming it bricked their Wii U are dim, but it's not out of reason to believe that's what happened. If your console suddenly stops functioning, and pressing the power button doesn't immediately do anything, then yeah you think your shit is fucked. Having to hold the power button for 10-20 seconds or completely unplug the console is unacceptable and shouldn't pass on game release. Not to mention the framerate issues for a game that doesn't even look great.
>>
>>342396764
You are still stuck with trying to sue them if something goes wrong. Also the accounting thing seems to be only when your project fails. It should be mandatory from the start.
