He's had his name slapped over everything in the Compilation of FFVII, which is weird considering he barely thought it would get past the movie, and had VERY little to do with titles like Crisis Core and Dirge beyond character designs (which were actually superb, IMO.) Even Advent Children was only meant to be an short, 30 minute action film featuring Cloud fighting Kadaj and meeting a woman resembling Aeris waiting for him in the church, who was to deliver a message that was supposed to set up the rest of the Compilation. It wasn't until Kitase and Nojima were brought on board that it turned into a feature length angst fest. At least Nomura manage to salvage what he could with some good action scenes.
When left to his own devices, he can make magic happen. Just look at when he was sent over to Team Ninja to oversee the character and level design (pic related.) We got good old classic Cloud Strife, and if you ask me, he's never looked better than he has in Dissidia arcade.

My first Final Fantasy was the first one on the NES, and I've played all of them through XIII. The last Final Fantasy I enjoyed was IX. The series took a turn towards MMO playstyle with X, when the world map and fun exploration was replaced with a minimap and an arrow, and it's all been downhill from there.
I forced myself to beat XIII despite the pile of shit that it's obvious that it was after 10 hours in, and it was my last Final Fantasy. Unless XV gets SUCH STELLAR REVIEWS that I can't ignore it, it will be the first non-MMO Final Fantasy that I won't play.

Dirge of Cerberus feels like Nomura just testing how ridiculous he can make his designs before people tell him that enough is enough. He went a little overboard with FFX and KH1, really pushed it on KH2, and finally crossed the line in DoC (and hasn't made anything as ridiculous since).
This is basically the logical extreme of Nomura's style when unrestricted. It feels almost like he's doing a parody of himself/Japanese action-RPGs in general, and if you imagine it that way the game becomes comedy gold.

The combat system is completely different. coded only gives you a simple attack, a counter, and some QTE specials.
Re:coded has a full suite of commands, a dodge, many abilities, full combos, different basic combos dependent on Keyblade.
The Overclock mechanic is completely new.
The Matrix system is completely new.
The System Sector is completely new, replacing the Debug Area and Debug mechanic from the original game.
The assets are completely different. coded uses 2D sprites in a 3D field, which is probably pre-rendered.
Re:coded uses 3D models in a 3D field, with all of the environments recreated (do you really think those textures on the Station look the same?) for DS.
Even cutscenes are different, with coded recycling the dialogue sprites from Chain of Memories, while Re:coded uses a variety of new sprites, compressed from renders made specifically for Re:coded (pic related).
The story and the concept of Blox are the same.
