The game world still has to be consistent. Armour is worn for protection. It has to cover you to protect you. It works by keeping a durable material between you and the weapon. Huge gaps in the armour does not protect you.
This makes the armour design inconsistent. If it's worthwhile to wear heavy plate armour on your arms and legs why aren't you wearing it on the more vulnerable torso? Is the person's internal organs in their arms and legs? They apparently need armour to protect their arms but not their guts?

The women were not knights, they wouldn't have knightly armour, they wouldn't have armour designed for them, fitted for them and they wouldn't fight as a professional soldier.
