An interesting piece of exposition that's never really properly explored in the game is that Gabranth should actually be the "good" brother by all accounts. Basch and Noah(Gabranth's original name) lived in Landis, one of the small nation-states conquered by Archadia in the early days of its expansion. After it fell, Basch fled to Dalmasca in some kind of misguided act of rebellion/revenge, refusing to bow to Archadian rule.
Meanwhile, Noah traveled back to Archades with their ailing mother(who actually originally hailed from Archades, making the brothers part-Archadian, if that's a thing) and took care of her. He despised Archadia and everything it represented, but he swallowed his pride and joined the military under the name Gabranth, after his mother's maiden name. He rose through the ranks and eventually became Judge Magister, all while serving a cause he didn't believe in. He swallowed every single bitter pill served to him while his brother was off in lala land, pretending that he somehow owed Dalmasca any kind of allegiance just so he could hold on to the fantasy that Landis could be restored one day.

Not..not really? He concept and design is, by masculinity affect alone, but he's really not particularly interesting. He's a soldier without a nation so he serves a different one now. He's also related to a party member who does exactly the same thing, just on the opposite side.

In some ways, Gabranth really should've been the main character. Ultimately I think the main theme or focus of XII is what happens to ordinary people when gods/emperors fuck around. A lot of people assume Gabranth is on the cover just because he looks cool, but through that lens and taking his backstory into account I think it actually makes a lot of sense.

I think the content of the art is better in WotL than Og, but the sketchy style of Og is better.
The art off ff8 is the best because it emphasizes the conundrum of the game which is about self fulfilling prophecy which spirals the events into motion. Rinoa is ultimecia.
