Tencent's scam is as follows.
>Use their massive, ill-gotten wealth to buy out a lesser, productive company.
>Lesser company works stupidly hard to create content, assets, the lot. This involves more than games.
>Tencent, since it owns the company, also legally owns whatever it creates.
>Tencent then imports all of the created assets back into China, rebrands it slightly and then markets Ripoff1
>Ripoff1 then makes all sorts of money in China but the profits pour directly into Pony Ma's (CEO of Tencent) pocket, while the people who actually made the content get fuck all.
Long and short of it is they shamelessly steal what's popular but are legally untouchable.
