You are holding back progress by sticking with older software. Discord's voice quality is fantastic, and the weird networking peer-to-peer spoofing shit that it does makes it really easy to connect to/make your own server. It can also run on your phone.

I've used every VOIP program that people have mentioned in this thread and a couple more and Mumble blows everything else out of the water. Its sound quality is adjustable and on-par with or better than all other programs, its UI is better than all others, its functionality is better, and it's the least bloated of everything people frequently use. The only reason anyone uses any other program is because of peer pressure.

Discord seemed to pop up out of nowhere, not sure why it is so popular. Teamspeak is far more widely used for vidya and Skype is just easy as fuck to put on your phone and computer. It isn't about being a dumb cunt it's just that why would you have all these other VOIP progams instead of having teamspeak and skype. Pretty much everyone has the two programs and getting people to use shit like mumble, ventrilo and discord is only really a niche.
Anyone else having lag issues while using discord? Every once in awhile anything requiring internet will freeze up. My friend started getting this problem as well after we used discord for a couple days. I've also seen people making posts about it on other places, but Discord doesn't seem to acknowledge the problem.

Discord is the only client mentioned here capable of competing with skype. They were smart to target it at streamers and gamers first, to build up any size of a user base, but their next big feature is video calls and then HD group video, which even skype still doesn't do.
